It Was a Quiet July 4 in Muldoon
4th of July
Muldoon was very quiet for the Fourth of July for the first time in many years with the parade and celebration being canceled. The weather for the 4th of July was very nice with cloud cover all day and that kept the temperatures down. Many in the area gathered with friends to enjoy the day with lots of barbecues and then later fireworks.
Rain
In many parts of the Muldoon area heavy rain showers have been falling. It is very spotty and not everyone got the same rain. Around two plus inches have fallen in spots at one time followed by lighter showers. Over all it is very green and much cooler than normal for July. Humidity has been tough, but it has been worse in the past with little to no rain in July.
Out and About
John and Debra Schwartzenburg slipped away to Colorado for a few days. They traveled up to the Fort Collins area to visit with their daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids; Michelle, Tommy, Addie and Ollie Mitchell. While there they traveled to Estes Park and got to enjoy the Rocky Mountain National Park and celebrate John’s birthday. It was a nice trip and a wonderful time visiting with their grandchildren.
James and I took off and picked up our grandson Ira James Ivy. Ira got to spend the day out in the country. It was a rainy day, so he didn’t get to do all the things he wanted, but he got to spend quality time with family.
Jennifer and Clay Rightmer enjoyed having their daughter Lane Rightmer come in from Waco for the Fourth of July weekend. They were joined by Jennifer’s sister Julie Zavala from Georgetown for the weekend too.

Road Hazards
Once again there have been more animals being hit on the roads in and around the Muldoon area. Be aware of the animals on the side of the road when traveling. Hitting a deer or a hog can do major damage to vehicles.
Then afterwards the dead animals draw scavengers in the form of buzzards come to have a feast and then drivers have to dodge them flying up from their dinner.
