Foundation Pour for New Hostyn Church Delayed

Parishioners of Holy Rosary Church in Hostyn were planning to make an all-day event Monday of the concrete pouring of the foundation for their new church.

But Mother Nature had other ideas.

The near-freezing temperatures delayed the work, but they planned to try again Tuesday morning.

The temperature needed to be above 40 degrees for the work to proceed.

The church was destroyed in a gas explosion on June 9, 2022, killing one church member, Verlene Kuntschik. Ever since, church members have been working to rebuild the church, and this week’s work is the biggest visual step forward in that process yet.
