“We support initiatives that benefit our community. If you’re expanding your business, adding an employee or you have established a new business in town, grant funds are available. Reach out to us,” stated Bob Kurtz, head of the FEDC. Connect with the city secretary for information.
Grant funds for a few capital projects include:

Emerging Artists
Several art pieces unveiled in “EmergingArtists: Beyond” were sold during the exhibition’s opening last Saturday at the ARTS Ross Gallery. The show highlights the works of eight talented artists on the rise and will remain on view until Dec 6. The Ross Gallery is open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Live Music
Gear up for fall fun at Hugo’s 1876 in the Grand Fayette Hotel. Join in live music, dancing, a buffet and a costume contest with prizes on Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. There may be a few spots left.
Behind the Curtain
On Saturday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m., “Behind the Cur-tain” will showcase Hollywood memorabilia donated by Make-up Artist Matthew W. Mungle, Academy Award winner (for “Bram Stoker’s Dracula”) and six-time Emmy Award winner. The collectibles will be offered as silent auction items. In addition, enjoy a special menu and live music.
As a side note, Hannah Barley, granddaughter of George and Kathy Valtasaros and former ARTS camp counselor, played Fiona in a local Lago Vista high school production of “Shrek.” Mungle and Hannah’s father, Brooks Barley, applied makeup and prosthetics for the students.
All donations for “Behind the Curtain” will support underfunded high school theater productions. For more on Mungle, visit
