Fayetteville Hosts Country Christmas Celebration

Always the second Saturday in December, this year’s Fayetteville Country Christmas will be held Saturday, Dec. 13.

Vendor booths will open on the historic Fayetteville Courthouse square at 10 a.m. and will remain open into the evening.

The Holiday Home & Lodging Tour will be held from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Tickets sales start at 10 a.m. at the hotel and will be available at tour locations after 11 a.m.

The monthly Fayetteville Picking Park featuring bluegrass musicians will be playing in the old courthouse. They start with a beginner’s jam at 2 p.m. and continue all day.

The Grand Fayette Hotel is offering a Children’s Christmas Story Time from 4-5 p.m. in the back room. Cookies and milk will be provided, and the children will be treated to readings of the Night Before Christmas and the Christmas Nativity Story from none other than Fayetteville’s treasure - Mary Quiros.

The Christmas Tree Display with Mr. and Mrs. Claus opens this Sunday. Over 35 trees are on display, and they’ll be open every weekend until Dec. 25. Their normal hours will be 4:30-8 p.m., with extended hours during Country Christmas from 4-8:30 p.m.

ARTS for Rural Texas will have the opening of their Holiday Show from 4-6 p.m., an annual community art exhibition celebrating the creativity and talent of emerging and established artists in our rural community, providing them an opportunity to showcase their work.

The Lighted Christmas Parade begins at 6 p.m. Bring your illuminated entry and line up on N. Washington Street in front of the hotel back to Bell Street starting at 5:30 p.m. Registration is not required.

From 6:30-8:30 p.m., Houston-based vocalist Danielle Reich will bring her swinging trio to the Fayetteville Square Gazebo for an evening of holiday classics. Danielle’s joyful interpretation of jazz, swing, and big band music has made her a mainstay in southeast Texas. She has been performing jazz for 20 years, recorded multiple albums, and has been featured at music festivals in Houston, Austin, and Bellingham Washington. Danielle will be joined by guitarist Stephan Badreau and bassist Aric Nitzberg. The concert graciously has been underwritten by Kevin Hromas of Cardinal Ridge Ranch.

After the parade, starting at around 6:30 p.m. the new Fayetteville Community Center will be offering hayrides around town to look at Christmas Lights departing every half hour - last one leaves at 8 p.m.
