Fayette County Fair Annual Parade Set Aug. 30
One of the main attractions every year, of the Fayette County Fair, is the downtown parade. It provides an exciting look into our community, as well as an entertaining fair event for all.
This year’s fair theme is Paradise, and the parade is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 30 at 10:30 a.m. All participants are reminded the check in is at City Hall, where they may pick up their number for line up beginning at 7:30 a.m, and will be directed to their spot in line at that time. This information will not be available ahead of time.
Awards will be presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the following categories: Best Out Of County, Best Fayette County, Best Junior, Most Comical, Best Business Or Commercial, Most Original, Best Fair Theme, Best Western Riders/ Wagon/ Float, Best Antique Car Or Truck, Best Classic Car, Best Classic Truck, Best Hot Rod, Best Antique Tractor, And Best Atv/ Motorcycle. There will also be an award for Best Overall And Judges Favorite Entry.
The parade route is the same as in the past couple of years. It will begin at the middle school gym, go north on Jackson St., cross Business 71/Travis St., make a left on Colorado St. and head west, cross Hwy. 77/Jefferson St., continuing straight on Colorado to Kruschel Park and disband. Reminder however, the opening ceremonies are at City Hall, with the Color Guard and National anthem by the Mighty Leopard band. So, if you have family in the band, drill team, veterans, etc. you may want to set up in that area or downtown.
Announcers will be set up at City Hall and on West Colorado St. across from the courthouse to announce the entries and winners. The parade will also be broadcast live on KBUK/KVLG 104.9.
