Fayette County Country Music Club to Host Monthly Opry Monday, Aug. 18
The Fayette County Country Music Club will host their monthly Opry on Monday, Aug. 18 at the KC Hall in La Grange. The show starts at 7 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
This month the Opry is featuring Chris Janca, Kimberlyn Krause, and Sister Sue, Kathy Danielson and her sister Janet Havel.
Chris Janca is a native of Fayette County. Chris is the oldest son of Milton Janca and Virginia Baca Janca. Many in this area know that the Baca family have a natural talent and love for music, and Chris is no exception. Chris’ first public debut was performing at a talent show in front of the whole school in 1974. He sang several songs and earned first place. Chris was privileged to join “The Gus Lindemann Orchestra” which spanned over 23 years and made several recordings.
After the Gus Lindemann era Chris got involved with a Christian music group, Divine Testament from 2012-2018. Chris was involved in making two recordings. Today Chris’ talent and love for music is no less then when he first began. He still sings in church and for special occasions.
Kimberlyn Krause was born and raised in Giddings and has been playing music since she was the wee age of three years old. She started off playing the piano at three years old, accompanying her grandma while she taught piano lessons to her students. At 7-years-old, Kimberlyn started playing the guitar and that’s when singing at opries became one of her favorite things to do, and she’s never looked back. Growing up, she traveled all around Central Texas playing at different opries. Singing at opries is still one of her favorite things to do today, at the opries that are still up and running, of course. She has had the honor to play with many talented local musicians, such as Neil Kulhanek, Chris Rybak, John Dujka, Mark Lehmann, and Craig Schmidt, to name a few. Mark Lehmann was actually Kimberlyn’s guitar teacher for several years when she was still learning to play.
So, playing at the Fayette County Opry is always a full circle moment for her. Throughout the years, Kimberlyn has taught herself how to play the accordion, violin, harmonica, and ukulele, when she has time to play around with other instruments. She would also love to learn how to play the steel guitar one day. This year is super exciting for Kimberlyn because she is getting married in December. They will be honeymooning in Nashville, where Kimberlyn hopes to step foot on the Grand Ole Opry stage for a quick photo.
All throughout her musical journey, Kimberlyn’s dad, Curtis, has always been right next to her on the stage, playing bass and singing harmony with her. Wherever she is singing, you will find him right next to her playing along. They call themselves “The Krause Duo” when they are on stage.
Kimberlyn was also blessed to have had Ludwig Krause (“Papa Louie” from Central Texas Sounds/Ellinger Combo) as her grandfather. She continues his squeeze box legacy today by playing his very own accordion, any time she gets the chance. Music has always been and will always be a passion for Kimberlyn and it will (hopefully) live on through her future children as well.
A big thank you to all of her fans throughout the years and a tremendous thank you to the Fayette County Opry for remembering her after all these years and welcoming her back to the stage with open arms. It truly means the world.
Sister Sue, Kathy Danielson and her sister Janet Havel, grew up performing throughout South Alabama with their family band, The Heltons. Over the years, they’ve shared their signature sound in venues across Oklahoma, Texas, North Carolina, Missouri, Tennessee, and Florida, taking the stage alongside country legends like Loretta Lynn, Lorrie Morgan, Billy Joe Royal, and more.
Kathy, the eldest, began performing professionally at just 13 years old, singing and playing rhythm guitar and drums. Janet, always close behind, charmed audiences early on with her smooth, soulful ballads - often stealing the spotlight. Now based in Texas, the two have joined forces as Sister Sue, a classic country duo known for heartfelt harmonies, musical chemistry, and a deep love for the traditional sound.
You can catch them performing at opries, festivals, and private parties throughout Central Texas. Every now and then, they’ll surprise you with a show-stealing twist… donning big wigs, bold outfits, and belly-laugh humor as their hilarious alter egos, Lynn and Lucy, better known as The Leadbottom Sisters. Whether sincere or silly, these sisters always leave the audience smiling and clapping along.
Be sure to be with the Fayette County Country Music Club on Monday, Aug. 18, for another great night of entertainment at a low price.
