Faith Lutheran High to Host Octoberfest Celebration Oct. 25
Tickets are now available for the Faith Lutheran High School Oktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 25. Meal tickets are $15 each and include schnitzel, noodles, green beans, potato salad, kraut, bread and coffee cake. Serving will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds, dine in or carry out is available. Tickets are pre-sale only. Contact a student, staff member, or church office for tickets. The Battle of the Vines and The Battle of the Brew homebrew competition are back, so start planning your brews. The traditional German meal, domino tournament, auction, cornhole tournament, live music, kids games, fellowship and lots of fun are in store for attendees. They will also have Sapientia Infiniti (infinite wisdom), a competition of an infinity bottle of whiskey. You can start preparing your bottle by adding a pour of any size from any whiskey you enjoy, keep no record, the infinity bottle is intended to be unique to you and unrepeatable.
Knox Memorial Scholarship
The Amanda Knox Memorial Scholarship Fund will have a fried chicken dinner on Sunday, Oct. 5. The meal will consist of three pieces of fried chicken, noodles, green beans and coleslaw. Tickets are $15 each, presale only. Plates can be picked up at the Holy Cross picnic grounds from 10 a.m.noon. Only 250 tickets will be sold. Contact

Supper Club Event
Award winning singersongwriter and chef, Season Ammons, will be hosting a Seasons Supper Club Event of fine dining on their family ranch, Peaceful Waters Ranch, off Warda Church Road. Guests will enjoy a 4-course meal, pared with local wine and a full live band concert on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 6-10 p.m. Luxury overnight accommodations are also available. 37th Annual Wendish Fest
The 37th Annual Wendish Fest will be held on Sept. 28 at the Serbin Picnic Grounds 1011 CR 212 Giddings. The drive-thru Wendish meal line opens at 9:30 a.m. with the dine in line opening at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are only available at the festival. This day celebrates the Wendish culture and history with food, activities, folklife exhibits, demonstrations and live polka music. The Wendish Museum will be open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and will feature Wendish folkways, a German Christmas Market as well as the traditional decorated Wendish Easter Egg demonstrations and sales. The bird wedding presented by St. Paul students is at 11:30 a.m. There will be a live auction of the coffee cakes at 12:45 p.m. and live music by Jodie Mikula Orchestra from 1-4 p.m. Included in this free family-friendly event will be kids train rides, sausage stuffing demo, washer pitching, noodle making, Wendish Easter Egg, blacksmithing, wine making and cross cut saw demonstrations. The 8:30 a.m. English Service as well as the 10:30 a.m. German Service will be led by Pastor Roland Ziegler, Pastor John Schmidt and Pastor Christopher Ahlman. Church tours will be offered at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. They are looking for a few fill-in volunteers at the picnic grounds, especially between 9:30 a.m.-noon. The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. (this is around the back side of the church). No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group. Contact the church office at (979) 242-3333 if you have any questions.
Game Day at Holy Cross
The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held Thursday, Oct. 16 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.
Central Texas Food Truck
The Central Texas Food Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 10-11 a.m., drive through only.
Recycle Trailer
The recycle trailer is located across from the Holy Cross Fellowship Hall. If you have aluminum cans to recycle, those can be placed in the large wire basket on the picnic grounds of Holy Cross. The money from the cans goes to the local Trail Life Group and they greatly appreciate your support.
Sympathy Extended
Sympathy to the family and friends of Edward Buscha who was called to his heavenly home on Sept. 5. His funeral
was held on Friday, Sept.
19 at Holy Cross in Warda.
Holy Cross Services
Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.
