DAR Play, Events Launch Fayette County’s America 250 Celebration
America is celebrating 250 years as a country in 2026, and many exciting events are planned to mark this anniversary across our nation, and in Fayette County.
Recently, a play commissioned by the Smith-McMillan Chapter, Daughters of the Revolution entitled “Rhapsody of Freedom,” was performed for students in grades 7-12 at LGISD and the public during three performances that took place on Feb. 11 and 12.
The play shared information about the Marquis de Lafayette who played a vital role in the American Revolution. Many place names in our county reference him. Students from the La Grange High School took part in the play.
For students who use the 7th-12th Grade Library at LGISD will also be able to peruse a beautiful book full of illustrations and history about the American Revolution, “The American Revolution: A Visual History” (DK Definitive Visual Histories), published in a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and DK, thanks to a book donated by the DAR chapter.
