The Fayette County Firefighters Association recently judged fire poster contest finalists from all schools in Fayette County. They announced the winners on Wednesday, Oct. 22. The top three winners from each age division advanced to the regional contest, judged by representatives of the Guadalupe District of the Texas Firefighters and Fire Marshals Association. Fire Prevention Week was Oct. 5-11 with a focus this year on lithium ion batteries. The theme for this year’s fire poster contest was “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium Ion Batteries in your Home.”

Winners in the Pre-K and Kindergarten Division were (front, from left) Allie Neiser of St. Rose Catholic School-First Place, Hayes Novick of St. Rose-Second Place, Adelyn Montgomery of Sacred Heart Catholic School-Third Place. Honorable mention winners were (middle row) David Wick of Sacred Heart and Madeline Gulash of Sacred Heart. Not pictured was Honorable Mention winner Carlos Lopez of Round Top-Carmine Elementary.
