County Chief Appraiser Richard Moring Resigns, Search On For Replacement

The Fayette County Appraisal District (Fayette CAD) began the search for a new chief appraiser this week. Former Chief Appraiser Richard Moring resigned earlier this month.

“At the last meeting he told us it was his time in life to do something else,” said Fayette CAD Board Chairman Jason McBroom. “With the changing laws, everything is changing, he said it was his time.

“He left at the best time,” McBroom added. “He made sure everything was done – the tax rates were all set, everything was figured. The hard part of the year was taken care of.”

Deputy Chief Appraiser Barbara Genzer and Administrative Assistant Amber Moerbe will manage day-to-day operations in the interim.

The Fayette CAD Board of Directors met Tuesday afternoon and voted to approve a job description and to advertise the open position in trade magazines and in the Record.

McBroom said the board hopes to hire a new chief appraiser by December or January.
