The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center is proud to present a special evening of traditional Czech music with the Mladá Muzika Šardice and the Dulcimer Band from Kyjov, Czech Republic will perform in La Grange at the Texas Czech Heritage & Cultural Center’s Sanford Schmid Amphitheater on Friday September 26 at 7 p.m. The group is on a USA tour and is sponsored by the Texas Folklife Institute. The 40-plus member band in various groups of musicians, dancers and singers, all youth, (“Mlada” meaning youth) will definitely put on a performance to remember.

Šardice is a village with a long tradition dating back by first writings to 1286. The village is located in the South Moravian Region, in the Hodonín district, not far from Kyjov, in a picturesque region of Moravian Slovakia. The region is known for singing, wine, folklore and good people. Adding to the excitement, our very own Madelyn Karstedt, recently crowned the United States Czech Slovak Queen, will welcome guests and open the concert. Madelyn’s commitment to preserving and celebrating Czech and Slovak traditions inspires everyone in our region and beyond, making this a memorable occasion for attendees and families.

The event will begin with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Concessions will be available. The Sanford Schmid Amphitheater is located at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, 250 W. Fairgrounds Road, in La Grange. The Amphitheater has also just undergone cleaning and site restoration.
