    Carmine Lions Club to Host ‘Heart of Carmine’ Country Music Benefit Feb. 12

The Carmine Lions Club is sponsoring an evening of country music in support of the Carmine Hall and the Carmine Lions Club. The Heart of Carmine will be held on Thursday, Feb. 12 at the Carmine Hall featuring Allison Crowson & her Tribute Show Band with Bill Mock and Donovan Pavlock.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the meal at 6:30 p.m., followed by the show. A table for eight is $1,000 and includes a prime ribeye and shrimp Dinner by Sandtown Catering. Drinks and Community Spirit are included. Individual tickets are available upon request.

Carmine Cemetery Assoc. 

Due to icy conditions on Feb. 1, the annual meeting of the Carmine Cemetery Association has been rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 15 at 11:15 a.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building at Martin Luther Lutheran Church. All members and those interested in the cemetery are encouraged to attend.

RT-C School News 

Round Top-Carmine varsity girls’ and boys’ basketball teams host Buckholts on Feb. 10 at 5 p.m.

Homecoming is scheduled for Feb. 13, when the JV and varsity boys’ teams host Richards. JV and varsity boys play at Fayetteville on Feb. 17 at 5.

Jr. High girls and boys play at Coupland on Feb. 9 at 5 p.m.

FFA meeting is Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Classes will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 13.

Mrs. Foster was recognized for Counselor Appreciation Week. She encourages, listens, problem-solves, and is a champion for kids at RT-C. Her heart for students and staff makes RT-C stronger every day.

Presidents’Day will be observed on Feb. 16 as a holiday.

Fried Chicken Meal 

The Carmine Hall is sponsoring a fried chicken meal on Sunday, Feb. 22. Pick up is at the Carmine Hall from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Advance-only tickets must be purchased by Feb. 14. Tickets are available at Carmine State Bank, from hall members, and by calling (214) 7321014.

Desserts are available for a donation and this supports the scholarship fund.

Souper Bowl of Caring 

The Lutheran Youth Organization of Martin Luther Lutheran Church is collecting monetary donations for the Souper Bowl of Caring beginning on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 8. The group will continue to collect through the end of February.

This is an annual fund raiser for the local AMEN food pantry in La Grange. All proceeds will directly support this Fayette County food pantry located in La Grange.

Carmine Chamber 

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its annual Texas Mixer awards and membership drive on Friday, Feb. 27 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Carmine Hall.

A complimentary meal and drinks will be served, along with door prizes. All are welcome to attend this free event to meet neighbors and learn what the chamber membership is all about. The citizen and business of the year will be announced.

RT-C Booster Club 

The RT-C Booster Club is sponsoring a fundraiser with the RT-C Comeback Classic on Saturday, March 7. It includes fish, fastballs, fun, and fellowship and will take place at the baseball field and Carmine Hall.

At the high school, alumni batting practice begins at 11 a.m., followed by the home run derby ($5 entry fee) at 12 p.m.. The Alumni baseball game begins at 1:30 p.m. R&R snow cones and concessions will be available.

At the Carmine Hall, happy hour and music start at 4 p.m. Alumni and winner recognition is at 4:45 p.m. A Fish Fry will be served beginning at 5 p.m. and a Cornhole Tourney ($50 per team) starts at 5:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for top cornhole teams.

Event tickets are $25 per person and include all-youcan- eat fried fish, trimmings, tea and water, and two free drink tickets. Additional drinks are available for purchase (21 plus).

Stamps for the Wounded Cancelled Postage stamps will continue to be collected during the year for Stamps for the Wounded, a service organization dedicated to providing comfort and stimulating activity to U.S. Veterans through stamp collecting. Leave at least one-fourth inch around the stamp when cutting it from the envelopes.

Two ziplock gallon bags of stamps were mailed to veterans near Washington D.C. for their projects this past January. The Women of the ELCA appreciates all who bring these cancelled stamps to Martin Luther Lutheran Church.

Capital Area Food Bank The Capital Area Food Bank will be in the parking lot of Waldeck Evangelical Lutheran Church on the third Saturday of each month. It is located near the intersection of FM 1291 and FM 2145 from 10-11 a.m.

For those picking up food, please have room in your car or truck for volunteers to place the food in the drive-through line. It is for Fayette County residents.

MLLC News 

Senior Citizen meal pickup and dominoes are Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Confirmation class meets Wednesday from 4:15-6:15 p.m.

Women of the ELCA meet Thursday at 1 p.m. followed by the Rebekah Group meeting at 2 p.m. Both meetings are in the Mission and Ministry Building.

AA meeting is Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Worship service with Holy Communion, observing the Transfiguration of Our Lord, is at 10 a.m. The Rev. Donna Wright will serve as the guest pastor.

Domino party is Monday at 1 p.m.

Recycling Trailers 

The recycling trailers are at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m.

Clean milk cartons should be kept separate from the other No. 2 plastics. They also accept clean No. 1 plastic bottles and jugs. Note that numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics and plastic bags are not accepted.

Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
