Carmine Hall Hosting Fried Chicken Fundraiser

A fried chicken dinner fundraiser will be held on Sunday, Sept. 21, sponsored by the Carmine Hall. Carry-out only is from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per plate. It includes a half chicken with trimmings. Desserts will be available for a donation to support the scholarship fund.

Armed Forces Dinner
The 2nd Annual Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner and Dance will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 190 S Brown St., La Grange. Tickets are available from Carmine State Bank and Round Top State Bank through Tuesday, Sept. 2. The price per ticket is $20. Admission affords entry for the ceremony at 4 p.m., followed by an evening of food, fun, games, silent auction and dance.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine ISD Fall and Senior pictures will be taken on Aug. 26.
The RT-C JV and varsity volleyball teams host Brazos Valley CHEA on Aug. 26 at 5 p.m. Varsity team will participate in the Bryan tournament at Legends Center from Aug. 28-30. Jr. High volleyball team plays at Burton on Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. JV and varsity teams host Schulenburg on Sept. 2 at 5 p.m.
Jr. High Fall Baseball will begin play on Thursday, Aug. 28 when the RT-C team travels to North Zulch for a game at 5 p.m.
Shrimp Boil Fundraiser
The RT-C Booster club is sponsoring its second annual Shrimp Boil fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 27. This year it will be held at the Round Top Rifle Hall, with Happy Hour beginning at 5 p.m. The meal will be served at 6 p.m. VIP table for 10 is $1,200 and a table for 8 is $700. MLLC WELCA
The WELCA Unit of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met Aug. 14 at 1 p.m. in the Mission & Ministry Building with six members present. They were Dianna Gerland, Leonita Sanders, Joys Baird, Diana Wunderlich, Joann Ullrich, and Nancy Eilers.
President Leonita Sanders opened the meeting with a devotion “Grace Has a Way of Expanding.”
For Mission Community, a birthday party was held on June 20 at Jefferson Place in La Grange. Joyce Fuchs is a resident there and she turned 92 that day.
Mother’s Day offering of $100 was sent to Upbring New Life Children’s Center in Canyon Lake.
For Mission Action, quilting continues on the 2nd Monday of the month at 9 a.m. The ladies are working on quilts for Camp For All and Lutheran World Relief. Ten fleece throws were delivered to Kristi Bauer at CASA in Bastrop.
It was agreed to discontinue collecting fabric kits for Lutheran World Relief.
Lutheran World Relief quilts along with school, personal care, and baby care kits will be taken to Zionsville on Nov. 1. For the shipment, forty dollars will be sent to help with expenses for the truck and two-hundred dollars will be mailed to Lutheran World Relief.
Ladies were informed that Lutheran World Relief promptly sent quilts to those people affected by the Hill Country flood.
One hundred pounds of food was taken to A.M.E.N. in February and sixty pounds in May.
Several persons, have used their Thrivent Financial action team cards for LWR items and it is appreciated.
For Mission Growth the Salad supper with program was held on June 4 with the theme: “Let Freedom Ring.” Forty-one persons attended. Jane Press gave a program on “The Flag”. Ida Schoenst sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” and the group sang “God Bless America.” Pastor John David Nedbalek from Round Top gave the closing benediction The Thankoffering Service will be held on Nov. 9 with Rev. James Wilkins as the speaker.
A meal of turkey, ham, dressing, and sides will be served as to-go only from the Mission and Ministry Building. Three hundred fifty plates will be ordered and cookies will be baked by ladies. Wade Weigelt (Sandtown Catering) will prepare the meal. Tickets will be sold for $15 per plate.
St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby will have their salad supper on Aug. 31 and ladies are encouraged to attend.
Yearbooks will be handed out in December.
Cancelled postage stamps are being collected for Stamps for the Wounded. Cut stamps leaving a quarter-inch edge.
Bold Women’s Day was observed during Sunday morning worship on March 2. Dianna Gerland brought a quilt to show, asking others to help with tacking and etc.
Western Cluster Fall Happening will be at MLLC on Saturday, Sept. 27 in the fellowship hall. The program is “Feed the Need”. It begins with brunch served at 8:30 a.m. Ladies are asked to sign up on a sheet in the narthex to bring food.
Correspondence included thank you notes from Upbring for the $100 sent from the Mother’s Day offering; from Pat and Dawn Brau Dilger in memory of Becca Mayer along with a donation; and from Lois Wink, Chair of the Flag of the United States Daughters of the American Revolution for the salad supper invitation, along with a donation.

Senior Citizens meal pickup and dominoes is Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.
AA meeting is Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m.
Worship, with Holy Communion observing the Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost, is at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Donna Wright serving as the guest pastor.
Office will be closed Monday, Sept. 1 due to Labor Day.
Recycling
The recycling trailers are at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m.
