Carmine Chamber Lighting Contest Winners Announced
The winners have been announced in the Carmine Chamber of Commerce Christmas Lighting Contest.
In the business division: First place, Buck Up Auctions & Realty; Second place, Mc-Call Style; and Third place, Skye Bird.
In the residential division: First place, Kevin Stueber; Second place, Mr. & Mrs. Fernando Cerda; and Third place, Mr. & Mrs. Gene Goolsby.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine JV and varsity boys’ basketball teams host Hallettsville Sacred Heart on Jan. 6 at 5 p.m. Varsity girls and boys host Dime Box on Jan. 9 at 5. The teams host North Zulch on Jan. 13 with the first game at 5 p.m.
Jr. High girls and boys host Calvert on Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. Both teams will participate in the Dime Box tournament on Saturday, Jan. 10. The teams host Immanuel of Giddings on Jan. 12 at 5 p.m.
Students are on break for the Christmas/Winter holidays. Teachers have a workday on Jan. 6. Classes resume on Jan. 7.
Report cards will be sent home on Jan. 8.
The next FFA meeting is on Jan. 14 at 6:30 p.m.
Carmine Lions Club
The Carmine Lions Club meeting is on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Windmill Ranch Lodge beginning at 6 p.m. All are welcome.
Bingo for Seniors
Bingo for seniors (60 and older plus guests) will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, Jan. 11 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m.
A card for five dollars covers all games along with prizes. Snacks and drinks are available for a donation. This is a non-profit community event for entertainment. Money collected is used for purchase of prizes and other expenses.
Small School, Big Hearts Mark your calendars for the Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation’s annual “Small School, Big Hearts Celebration” on Saturday, Feb. 7. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
There are four levels of event sponsorships. The gold level is $1,000 (8 dinner tickets); black level is $750 (6 dinner tickets); white level is $500 (4 dinner tickets); and red level is $250 (2 dinner tickets). The gold, black, and white levels also include drink tickets, reserved seating, verbal recognition at the event; social media acknowledgement; dessert by Royer’s Pie Haven; and art by an art student. The red level includes drink tickets, reserved seating, and social media acknowledgment.
Individual tickets will also be available for purchase at the local schools and banks, and at Round Top Mercantile. The meal will be served from 5-6 p.m. If you have any questions, call (979) 249-7183.
There will be a silent auction beginning the week before the event and a live auction at the celebration.

Recycling Trailers
The recycling trailers are at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m.
Clean milk cartons should be kept separate from the other No. 2 plastics. They also accept clean No. 1 plastic bottles and jugs. Note that numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics and plastic bags are not accepted.
Also accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.
