Camp Lone Star BBQ, Auction Fundraiser is Sunday

Camp Lone Star in La-Grange will host their annual BBQ and Auction Fundraiser to support the camp, transform lives and grow in God’s kingdom, on Sunday, July 27. This event is one of the main events which supports Camp Lone Star each year.

The day includes special music at 10:30 a.m. followed by an outdoor worship service at 11 a.m. under the canopy of trees near the lake. Live streamed service is available in the air conditioned Koop Center, followed by that good old Texas BBQ at noon. After that, enjoy the great fellowship and fun of the live and silent auctions at 1 p.m. If you cannot attend but would like to donate, please visit their website at: www.camplonestar. org.

South Lee County VFD 

The South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department will have their 45th Annual BBQ on Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. Beef and pork BBQ will be available to-go at the pits starting at 4:30 p.m. Beef and pork plates with all the trimmings will be served from 5-7:30 p.m. All plates and beverages are free will donation. There will be a silent auction from 3-6 p.m. The Blue Sunsets Band will play from 3:30-6:30 p.m., Barrel train rides for the kids will run from 5-8:30 p.m. The live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds go towards updating fire equipment.

Sewing Circle 

The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. (this is around the back side of the church). No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group. Contact the church office at (979) 242-3333 if you have any questions.

Game Day at Holy Cross 

The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held ThursdayAugust 21 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.

Holy Cross Church Picnic 

Holy Cross Lutheran Annual Church picnic will be held Sunday, August 31. Mark your calendars for this fun event, more information coming soon.

Little Free Library 

Holy Cross in Warda has a Little Free Library for area residents to use. There are selections of adults and children’s books and puzzles. The library is located under the covered roof by the fellowship hall entrance on the far end of the building.

Wendish Fest 

Wendish Fest will be held on Sept. 8 at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. Details coming soon.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

The ladies at Holy Cross will be collecting a door offering on Sunday, Aug. 10 for school supplies for students attending Immanuel Lutheran in Giddings.
