Lake Fayette Parks

Park Prairie and Oak Thicket parks out at Lake Fayette are managed by Lake Fayette Hospitality, a division of ExplorUS. You can pitch tents, score a screened shelter, book a cabin or reserve an RV space. The lake is stocked with catfish, tilapia, perch and bass. Lots of family gatherings take place and day visitors can enjoy a picnic with a water view.

“Each park has its own unique perks. Day visitors can enjoy picnics, birthday celebrations and family gatherings on picnic tables at Oak Thicket. We have a lot of those on holidays,” stated new hire General Manager Kevin White. “Park Prairie has a more open feel to it. There are two cabins, RV spaces and campers can pitch a tent just a stone’s throw from the lake.” Kevin’s son Roman serves as a camp host and social media pro for the company.

Book online through campspot.com or call the lake directly. If you missed the stargazing event, Night Watch and Jimbo’s Italian Ice Night, stay tuned for more at this sprawling 2,000-acre haven as the days and nights get cooler. Both parks are now on one Facebook page: https://www. facebook.com/oakthicketpark.

The main number is (979) 249-3504.

New Bar

The highlight of a private tour given by General Contractor Gary Hoffman with Accent Remodeling was the highly-anticipated bar seating in the newly christened 1876 Bar at the Grand Fayette Hotel. When completed, it will be equipped with seating for six, outlets with USB ports, purse hooks, and a brass foot rail, and guests can watch the game on a big-screen TV.

Cigars can soon be ordered from a menu or selected from a personal stash conveniently stored away. Later this year, a full bar’s liquor selection will be installed in front of the new large glass windows. Loads more will be unveiled in the coming months. The majority of the remodeling for the updated hotel will be completed by Oct 3.
