    Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner and Dance Sept. 13

Tickets are available through Sept. 2 for the 2nd Annual Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner and Dance to be held on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 190 S Brown St., La Grange, TX 78945.

American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 38 and Auxiliary are supporters of this event.

Tickets are available from Carmine State Bank and Round Top State Bank through Tuesday, Sept. 2. The price per ticket is $20. Admission affords entry for the ceremony at 4 p.m., followed by an evening of food, fun, games, silent auction and dance. Come help celebrate our veterans, their families, and show support. Dress is military uniforms, decorated vests or go western with jeans, boots, and hats.

All funds raised from this event will be used to support the needs of our local Fayette County veterans.

RT-C School News 

Round Top-Carmine JV and varsity volleyball teams host Schulenburg on Sept. 2 at 5 p.m.

Jr. High, JV, and varsity teams will participate in the Aggieland Tournament on Sept. 5 and 6 at Legends Center in Bryan.

Jr. High girls host Dime Box on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. The team hosts Richards on Sept. 8 also at 5 p.m.

Jr. High baseball team hosts Mumford on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 5 p.m.

FFA officers started the year by visiting the Round Top-Carmine chapter of the Young Farmers meeting. They appreciate the support that the Young Farmers give to the FFA members.

Fried Chicken Dinner 

A fried chicken dinner fundraiser will be held on Sunday, Sept. 21, sponsored by the Carmine Hall. Carry-out only is from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per plate. It includes a half chicken with trimmings. Desserts will be available for a donation to support the scholarship fund.

Shrimp Boil Fundraiser 

The RT-C Booster club is sponsoring its second annual Shrimp Boil fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 27. This year it will be held at the Round Top Rifle Hall, with Happy Hour beginning at 5 p.m. The meal will be served at 6 p.m. VIP table for 10 is $1,200 and a table for 8 is $700. Designer Purse Bingo 

The RT-C Education Foundation will hold the first Designer Purse Bingo in the Round Top-Carmine area on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. at the Carmine Hall. The Foundation will be raising funds to continue its mission of providing Arts Enrichment, Technology, and Innovative Teacher Grants for the students of Round Top-Carmine ISD.

Tickets for a fun evening with ten designer purses to win, drinks, and light bites, are available now online on the website, rtceducationfoundation. org/event-tickets. Wear your favorite disco wear, or decorate your table in disco gear. It will be a fun evening for a great cause, the students. For more information, email rtceducationfoundation@gmail.com.

Carmine Hall Fundraiser 

The Carmine Hall is selling tickets for monthly drawings from September 2025 to August 2026. On the third Tuesday of each month, three tickets will be drawn – two for guns and one for a $500 gift card. The winning tickets will be placed back in for future drawings.

Winners must be 18 or older to win a long gun and 21 or older to win a pistol. All winners must be in compliance with federal firearms regulations.

MLLC Rebekah Group 

The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on Aug. 14 following the WELCA General Unit meeting. The eight members present were Dianna Gerland, Leonita Sanders, Sharon Rhome, Joys Baird, Susan Ray, Diana Wunderlich, Joann Ullrich, and Nancy Eilers.

The Bible Study was led by Susan Ray, with the theme, “Where two or more are gathered: Flourishing in Relationships; Session Three: Relationships that push us to grow.”

The business meeting was called to order by President Susan Ray.

Sharon Rhome expressed verbal thanks for the cards she received during her illness. A card was received from JoLynn Schoenberg, with the MLLC Outreach Committee, for the donation of $200 for the RT-C teacher’s breakfast.

Quilting was on Aug. 11. Fifteen quilts for Camp For All are ready and 16 need tacking. Eighty-four are currently ready for Lutheran World Relief.

Fifty-five teachers and staff from RT-C were present for the breakfast on Aug. 7. For the Advent meals and services, the four churches in the Crosssroads Shared Ministry will come to Carmine for services. Pastor John David Nedbalek from Round Top will preach for all three services which will be held in the Fellowship Hall. Shelby will provide the meal on Dec. 3; Round Top on Dec. 10; and Waldeck on Dec. 17. Carmine will provide the paper goods and drinks. The meals begin at 6 p.m. followed by the services at 7 p.m.

The following are future happenings for MLLC. St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby invites the ladies to attend its Salad Supper on Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. The Western Cluster Fall Gathering will be held at MLLC on Sept. 27. Harvest Festival is planned for Oct. 19 at the Carmine Hall. Reformation service with the four churches is on Oct. 16 at Lutherhill.

Packing for Lutheran World Relief, and possibly assembling kits, is planned for Aug. 28 at 9 a.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.

Happy Birthday was sung for JoAnn Ullrich.

The meeting adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer and the singing of the table prayer. Members enjoyed the food brought by those present.

MLLC News 

Senior Citizens meal pickup and dominoes are Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Mission and Ministry Building.

AA meeting is Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m. This day will begin the new Sunday School year. Make a special effort to have your children or grandchildren attend.

Worship, with Holy Communion observing the Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost, is at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Phil Fenton serving as the guest pastor.

Quilting for Lutheran World Relief is Monday at 9 a.m.

Visitors’ Center 

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot and Museum is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. It is located at 248 E Sylvan, Carmine, TX 78932, which is on the south side of Highway 290.
