AMEN Serves Over 300 Families in August
AMEN wants to thank all in the community that provided food assistance for the month of August. This would include all that provided monetary donations, food drives and the AMEN Gardens. The gardeners have been providing beets, kale, carrots and many other leafy vegetables.
A recap for the month provides the following statistics. 308 families were served, which represented 900 individuals served.
Donated food was 5,207 pounds. The number of volunteers was 270 for a total of 881 hours.
The impact of your generous donations provided this need. The AMEN board and volunteers say thank you. Monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 571 La Grange, Texas 78945. Also you can go to our website www.amenlagrange.org and make a donation thru the link provided.
AMEN has discontinued using harmful individual use plastic bags for food selections. Reusable bags, boxes or other containers will be used which will reduce the environmental impact in Fayette County. The only exception is for meat products; plastic will be used.
The impact has prevented 5,832 plastic bags that have not been sent to the landfill. Thank you to clients who bring their reusable bags.
AMEN wants to become greener and reduce the number of plastic bags used to accommodate shopping. We are asking the community if they have any reuseable shopping bags to donate to the pantry. The bags can be dropped on Monday and/or Thursday during business hours.
The pantry is open to provide products from Monday 9 a.m. - noon and open on Thursday for drop off 10 a.m. - 12 noon.
