AMEN Served 348 Families in June

AMEN appreciates all in the community that provided food aid for June. This would include all that provided monetary donations, food drives and the AMEN Gardens. The gardeners have been providing beets, kale, carrots and many other leafy vegetables. As noted the numbers served have increased for the summer months with school no longer in session.

A recap for the month provides the following statistics. 348 families were served, which stood for 1,116 individuals served. The donated food was 8,729 pounds. The number of volunteers was 220 for a total of 770 hours.

The impact of your generous donations provided this need. The AMEN board and volunteers say thank you. Monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 571, La Grange, Texas 78945 or visit www.amenlagrange.org and make a donation through the link provided.

Beginning in June, AMEN stopped using harmful sole use plastic bags for food selections. Reusable bags, boxes or other containers will be used which will reduce the environmental impact in Fayette County. The impact for the first month prevented 2,000 plastic bags from being placed in landfills. The number will increase as our role becomes an integral part of an environmental community. AMEN wants to become greener and reduce the number of plastic bags used to accommodate shopping. We are asking the community if they have any reuseable shopping bags to donate to the pantry. The bags can be dropped off on Monday and/or Thursday during business hours. The pantry is open to provide products from Monday from 9 a.m. - noon and open on Thursday for drop off from 10 a.m. - noon.
