AMEN Continues to Need Reusable Bags
AMEN appreciates all in the community that provided food assistance for the month of September. This would include all that provided monetary donations, food drives and the AMEN Gardens.
A recap for the month provides the following statistics: 330 families were served, which represented 994 individuals served. Donated food was 2,276 pounds. The number of volunteers was 202 for a total of 852 hours. The impact of your generous donations provided this need. Monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 571, La Grange, Texas 78945 or visit www.amenlagrange. org.
AMEN has discontinued using harmful individual use plastic bags for food selections. Reusable bags, boxes or other containers will be used which will reduce the environmental impact in Fayette County. The only exception is for meat products; plastic will be used. The impact has prevented 7,812 plastic bags that have not been sent to the landfill. Thank you to clients who bring their reusable bags. The average is about two thousand bags per month.
AMEN wants to become greener and reduce the number of plastic bags used to accommodate shopping and asking the community for any reuseable shopping bags to donate to the pantry. The bags can be dropped off on Monday and/ or Thursday during business hours. The pantry is open to provide products from Monday 9 a.m. until noon and open on Thursday for drop off 10 a.m.-noon.
