RT-C High School FCCLA Collecting Toys, Clothing
Round Top-Carmine High School’s FCCLA is collecting toys for ages 1-8 and the Senior Beta Club is collecting shoes and clothing for ages 9-14. These items may be brought to the High School. They will be wrapped and dispersed to local families in need during the holiday season.
Dec. 17 will be an early release day (12:30 p.m.) for the school district. Holidays for students continue through Jan. 5. Classes resume on Jan. 6, 2022.
Ledbetter Lane of Lights
This Friday and Saturday are the last dates to enjoy the Ledbetter Christmas Lane of Lights, which is open from 6-9 p.m. Enjoy a hayride through a lighted path of Christmas reflections.
Tickets are $10 per person and children 2 years and under are free. Live musical entertainment and Santa will be there each night. Location is FM 1291 at Hwy. 290.

Christmas Decoration Contest
Carmine Chamber of Commerce will again sponsor the Christmas Decoration Contest for homes and businesses within the city limits. The date will be announced soon. First, second, and third places winners will be announced for both the home and business categories.

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting night Dec. 23.

Mayer Cemetery Association
The Mayer Cemetery Association met on Lenora Voelkel’s carport near Shelby on Sunday Nov. 7. Present were David Cochran, Lisa Cochran, Grace Crawford, Tom Menn, Doyle Muske (guest representing Latium Cemetery), Lenora Voelkel, and Colette Wunderlich.
The previous meeting’s minutes were read and approved as was the treasurer’s report covering the past two years. Motions were passed establishing rules for placement of grave borders and/or coverings, rules governing possible exhumations, and increasing the price of a burial space to $500 effective Jan. 1, 2022 with certain exceptions. The price increase was decided after noting that other cemeteries in the area increased their prices to $500 for a single burial space.
The following officers were elected: President - Tom Menn, Vice President - Arlin Naegeli, Secretary - Lisa Cochran, Treasurer - Monty Mayer, and Past President - Colette Wunderlich. Trustees elected are David Cochran, Ronald Rushing, and Clayton Mayer. Elected as Alternate Trustees are Grace Crawford, Bradley Wunderlich, and Claude Naegeli.
Carmine 42 Club
A Christmas domino party was enjoyed by the Carmine 42 Club on Dec. 1. The group met at Conway and Marlene Waak’s home for a delicious potluck lunch with scrumptious desserts, chicken and dumplings, and cold cuts.
After an enjoyable gift exchange, the group played six gratifying games of 42. The high scoring partners were Midge Cloyd and Marlene Waak with a score of 1517 and played one 84 hand. Second highest scoring partners were Betty Porter and Carol Naegeli with a score of 1431, and they played three hands of 84. Also playing were LaVerne Albers and Linda Mattocks, who played one hand of 84. Partners LouAnn Stokes and Jeanette Schoenst played two hands of 84.
Everyone enjoyed the exciting games and their challenges. These players look forward to the next game day in January at 11:30 a.m. at JW’s Steakhouse.
MLLC News
Advent service is Wednesday at 7 p.m. A meal will be served at 6 p.m., preceding the service. Both will be held in the Fellowship Hall.
Saturday worship with Holy
Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday worship with Holy Communion observing the Fourth Sunday in Advent is at 10 a.m. The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Domino party is Monday at 1 p.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
