Baseball to Return to SPJST Ballpark
Baseball is back at the SPJST ballfield. The field is complete and ready for baseball. The first weekend of the high school fall league kicked off Sept. 18. As of this writing, the baseball schedule has not been finalized.
There’s a great deal of history around the SPJST ballfield. Here’s a very brief update: Last year, the City of Fayetteville determined that the management of the ballfield will revert back into private hands. As a result, the Fayetteville Baseball Alumni Association (FBAA) was formed in January. “We wanted our boys to play in Fayetteville but we had some grass issues so we decided to form this organization to begin creating a good, solid field for any boys that want to play,” explained Josh Vitek, a director of the FBAA. “We turfed the infield which makes for a lot less maintenance. Even if we get a big rain, we can still get that game in. Our goal is to have more playoffs and more select teams play right here.
Volunteers are always welcome. Aaron Gross has been a huge help. Our parents and community residents are amazing. They help with the concessions, the gate—all of it. They can call any of us to volunteer.” Josh Vitek: (979) 966-7331, Daniel Schley: (979) 966-7977 or Mark Schmitt: (979) 966-8641.

On Fine Arts Fridays, they helped kindergarten create paper bag teepees with Native American symbols, and they created their own buffalo hide art.
