Round Top-Carmine Class of 1961 Reunites

The Round Top Carmine Class of 1961 held their 64th class reunion on Saturday, July 12 at JW’s Steakhouse in Carmine. Eighteen class members were present. Missing were Minnie Ann Wagner Chovanec and Kirby Rummel, with a total attendance of 25. Their 65th reunion will be held at the same place, time and date, July 11, 2026 with the same committee in charge. The afternoon was enjoyed by all.

RT-C School News 

Parent Portal for online returning student registration for the 2025-2026 school year is open. All students will need to complete the online registration process prior to picking up their school schedule.

More details on scheduling appointments for schedule pick-up, Chromebook checkout, and parking spot selection will be available soon.

For more information, call the high school at (979) 9666118. Administrative offices are open through Aug. 3 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Chamber Casino Night The 2025 Casino Night is on Aug. 9. It is sponsored by the Carmine Chamber of Commerce with the theme “Casino Night 007.” It will be at the Carmine Hall beginning at 6 p.m.

A table sponsorship is $500 and includes eight meals, beverages, wine, promotion at event, and playing chips. Individual tickets are $65. For tables and tickets, call or text Courtney at (512) 983-1115 or Marlene at (979) 451-1507. Reserve tickets by July 25.

A chicken-fried steak meal by Gary Goebel will be served. Portions of the proceeds will benefit the Carmine Hall renovation.

Carmine Hal Fundraiser The Carmine Hall has tickets available for monthly drawings from September 2025 to August 2026. On the third Tuesday of each month, three tickets will be drawn. The winning tickets will be placed back in for future drawings.

Rebekah Group 

The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on July 10, 2025 with seven members present. They were Joys Baird, Susan Ray, Diana Wunderlich, Joann Ullrich, Jocie Jacob Braun, Leonita Sanders and Nancy Eilers.

The Bible Study was led by Susan Ray with the theme, “Where two or more are gathered: Flourishing in Relationships; Session Two: Relationships that sustain us.”

Minutes of the previous meeting were corrected to read that ten fleece blankets had been taken to CASA, not twenty.

A note was received from Pat and Dawn Brau Dilger, in memory of Rebecca Mayer, thanking the Women of the ELCA for their support and generosity. Lois Wink, chair of the Flag of the United States Daughters of the American Revolution Committee, sent a thank you note for the invitation to the WELCA salad supper in June.

Mission Action: School supplies are being collected during July and a container has been made available. More food has been collected for AMEN and Leonita Sanders will take it next week. Quilting is on July 14.

Mission Community: The birthday party at Jefferson Place on June 30 was enjoyed by 38 people, including birthday celebrant Joyce Fuchs from MLLC.

Mission Growth: Report on future happenings. Desserts would be appreciated for the Firemen’s Feast on July 20. A RT-C teacher breakfast will be held on Aug. 7. Matt Kindsvatter will lead worship on Aug. 17. Funeral serving groups meet on Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. WELCA meeting is Aug. 14 at 1 p.m. The Harvest Festival is Oct. 19. Reformation service will be at Lutherhill on Oct. 26. Thankoffering service is on Nov. 9. David and Jennifer Mohr have asked if ladies would provide desserts for a fundraiser on Aug. 16 at the KC Hall in La Grange for Travis Anderson. Joys Baird will take them.

Rev. John David Nedbalek will lead the Reformation service at Lutherhill. He will also continue to lead the confirmation classes.

The group approved that $200 would be given toward expenses for door prizes for the RT-C Teacher Breakfast.

MLLC WELCA will host the Western Cluster Fall Happening on Sept. 27. Joann Ullrich gave the Offering Meditation. Happy Birthday was sung for Susan Ray.

The meeting adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer and the singing of the table prayer.

Hostesses were Susan Ray and Nancy Eilers.

MLLC News 

Senior Citizens meal pickup and dominoes is Wednesday from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.

AA meeting is Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Worship with Holy Communion, observing the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost is at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Karen Buck serving as the guest pastor. Visitors’ Center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot and Museum is open on the second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. It is located at 248 E Sylvan, Carmine, TX 78932, which is on the south side of Highway 290.

More docents are needed. Come work any hours you choose. Contact Diana Wunderlich at (979) 277-4613 if interested.
