Zoch Pitches Perfect Game As Lady Leps Crush Bellville

La Grange pitcher Missy Zoch hurled a perfect game Thursday, allowing no hits and striking out 13 of the 15 batters she faced as the Lady Leps softball team went on the road and crushed Bellville 14-0.

Tough Thursday For Most County Teams

The La Grange baseball team lost 2-0 at Bellville Thursday, which drops the Leopards overall record to 7-7 and their district mark to 1-2. La Grange only managed four hits the game (those coming from Carson Svrcek, Jake Dixon, Corey Golan and Cole Garlin). The Leps return to district action at Caldwell Tuesday before hosting Giddings Friday at 7 p.m.

A Good Friday for Fishing, But Maybe Not Catching

It was a busy Good Friday morning at the boat ramp in La Grange last week. Four boat trailers were parked under the old iron bridge at 10 a.m. Two more boats slipped into the water before an hour went by. Several families fished off the shore.
Local resident Tremont Scott and his three sons, Mark, Bradon and Thai, spent the morning getting their lines wet. “I’m just trying to get these kids out of the house and away from the video games for a while,” Scott said as he baited a hook.

Beyer Signs to Play for Eastfield College

Lauren Beyer, a senior at Schulenburg High School, signed a commitment letter to play volleyball at Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas on Monday, March 30. Flatonia Sweeps Schulenburg

Riley Beck gets a hit for the Lady Bulldogs in Tuesday’s 7-4 win over Schulenburg.
It was a good night to be a Flatonia fan Tuesday as the Bulldogs and Lady Dogs swept Schulenburg in baseball and softball games. The Flatonia boys won 13-2 and the Flatonia girls won 7-4. Here’s a roundup of recent Fayette county baseball and softball action.

LG’s Zarr Continues To Star for TLU Tennis

Former La Grange High School tennis star Caitlin Zarr continues to dominate on the court for the Texas Lutheran University tennis team. Zarr received two awards from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference over the past few weeks. She was selected Conference Co-Player of the Week March 11 and then was named Conference Player of the Week last week.

Leps Edge Navasota 2-0

The La Grange baseball team is still struggling to score runs, but Leps pitcher Corey Golan made sure that wasn’t a big issue Saturday. Golan hurled a complete game three-hitter as the Leps downed Navasota 2-0. For good measure Golan also had two of the Leps four hits and drove in one of the two runs.

Leps Lose Extra-Inning Heartbreaker

In a heart-breaking district opener for the La Grange baseball team Tuesday, the Leps lost 2-0 to Smithville in a game that was scoreless until the eighth. “This was just not a good game all-around for us,” said La Grange head coach Michael McCollum. “Give Smithville credit. The better team won tonight.
