Dogs’ Day

ROUND ROCK – With a finish for the ages, the Flatonia baseball team rallied to win its first state baseball title since 1993 as the Bulldogs came from three runs down to stun Crawford 4-3
Thursday in the 2A championship game in front of 1,571 fans at Dell Diamond.

Novak Named Title Game MVP

ROUND ROCK – With the game tied and the bases loaded in the seventh inning, there was maybe no one better to have at the plate for the Bulldogs than Casen Novak. The junior shortstop came
into the state tournament with a team-leading .440 batting average and it was his hit to left that scored the state championship winning run and touched off a wild celebration by the Flatonia players.

Diamond ‘Dogs Head Back to State Title Game

ROUND ROCK -- The Flatonia Bulldogs ended Booker’s storybook season and kept their own championship dreams alive Wednesday. With a 8-2 victory over Booker in the 2A state semifinals in front of 946 fans at Dell Diamond, Flatonia advanced to its second consecutive state title game and ended the best ever season by the Booker Kiowas (27-5), a team on the Texas/Oklahoma border that was making its first ever state tournament appearance.

FLATONIA BASEBALL IS STATE-BOUND

The Flatonia baseball team is headed back to the state tournament with a little unfinished business. One year after finishing as state runner-ups, the Bulldogs earned their right for a return trip to Dell Diamond with a sweep of Refugio in the regional finals. Flatonia knocked off Refugio 9-2 in Game 1 Thursday in El Campo before finishing off the Bobcats with a 3-1 win Saturday in San Antonio.

Machac Signs With Sul Ross

STELLAR SEASON, STUNNING END

The La Grange Lady Leps softball squad ended its remarkable 2015 season Saturday in College Station dropping the second consecutive game of a best-of-three playoff series with the Huffman-Hargrave Falcons by a score of 3-1 in 11 innings. It was a game of missed opportunities, according to coach Art Behrend.
