Softball Awards Keep Rolling in For LG Girls

The accolades just keep piling up for the members of the state championship La Grange softball team. This week La Grange’s Alyssa Angel and Blake-Ann Fritsch were named to the All-State softball team by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.

Riverdawgs Win State Super Series

Winning all five of their games this past weekend, Fayette County’s Colorado Riverdawgs took the Super Series State Championship in Round Rock in the 9-under Minors Division. Silver Sluggers

ROUND ROCK – While the ending may not have been what they wanted, the journey was better than they could have
hoped. Thursday’s 10-0 loss to Douglass in the state title game put a damper on what was a historic baseball season by the Flatonia Bulldogs, but just moments after the title game it was that road to the championship game that head coach Shawn Bruns chose to focus on.

Flatonia Slides Into State Title Game

ROUND ROCK – Against a pitcher that hadn’t been beaten this season, it was an unlikely hero that stepped forward to vault the Flatonia baseball team into the 1A state title game.Flatonia’s freshman No.  9-hole hitter Kaddin Mikulik drove in two early runs and later scored another as the Bulldogs downed Anson 5-3 in a state semifinal game Wednesday at Dell Diamond.

Making A ‘State’ment

All season long, the La Grange softball team played like the best team in the state. Saturday the Lady Leps won the hardware to prove it. With a 7-3 victory over Van in front of a standing-room-only crowd of 1,294, La Grange won the Class 3A state softball title, capping a dominant five months that saw the Lady Leps start the season ranked No. 1 and hold
that top spot the entire year, even winning 34 in a row at one point

LG’s Kristy Bertsch Named Championship Game MVP

Coming into this season, no player on the Lady Leps had bigger shoes to fill than Kristy Bertsch. Bertsch, a junior, took over
at third base for the legendary Breanna Homer, who had been a four-year starter at that corner. And all season long Bertsch
filled those shoes admirably, playing nearly flawless defense and hitting .376

After losing the first game of the season to 5A Pearland the Lady Leps rattled off 31 consecutive wins to close out the

Where Will He Go in the Draft?

After a stellar career with the Leps baseball team, including being  part of a state title team last year and crafting a 9-0 record with a 0.107 ERA during the regular season this year, senior Trey Supak has emerged as the biggest La Grange pro baseball prospect since Homer Bailey was drafted No. 7 overall back in 2004.
