The La Grange baseball team dug itself quite a hole with losses early in district. But with two wins last week, the Leps have clawed their way out of that hole in a big way. And now, as long as the Leps keep winning, they will keep playing.

Leps Climb Back in the Playoff Hunt

Going into Tuesday’s district baseball game, La Grange was in last place and in the midst of a four-game losing streak while Bellville was in first and undefeated in district. But the Leps pulled off the biggest upset of the 21-4A season so far with a 4-3 win over the Brahmas and it keeps La Grange’s playoff aspirations alive. La Grange managed just one hit the entire game but somehow managed to score four runs.

On Senior Night, Lady Leps Close Out Dominating Softball Regular Season

The Lady Leps annual dominance of district play continued in a big way this season. Tuesday’s 12-0 victory over Bellville in the regular season finale (which came one day after a 18-0 win over Navasota) put the finishing touches on La Grange’s fifth consecutive district title and was the Lady Leps’ remarkable 51st consecutive district victory.

Cyclists Flood La Grange Despite Rain-Out on Saturday

Stormy weekend weather forced organizers of the BP MS 150 to cancel the first day of the Houston-to-Austin bicycle ride. But bad weather didn’t dampen thousands of riders who flooded the courthouse square in La Grange on Sunday morning, April 19, to ride the second leg of the trip.

Lady Leps Win District Track Title For First Time Since 2004

For the first time in over a decade, the La Grange girls track squad has won the district team title. In a dominating two days in Giddings at the district meet, the Lady Leps ran away with the 21-4A crown with 181 points, beating runner-up Caldwell by 28 points. This was the first district team track title for the La Grange girls since they won in 2003 and 2004.

LHS Band Earns Sweepstakes Honors

The La Grange High School Wind Ensemble’s performance at UIL Concert and & Sightreading contest was hosted by UIL Region 18/26 at Bastrop ISD Performing Arts Center. The group garnered 1st Division ratings in both stage performance and sight-reading, sweeping the concert performance judges with their score of straight ones. Because they also earned 1st division ratings during marching season and advanced to Area, they have been awarded the coveted “Sweepstakes” title for the 2014-2015 school year.

Diamond Roundup: Lady Leps Clinch District, Big Rally for FHS

The La Grange softball team clinched its fifth consecutive district title and improved to 25-0 this season with a 19-0 victory
at Smithville Tuesday. The Lady Leps slugged a whopping 10 extra base hits in this game, including a homer by Hatti Moore, three doubles by Kristy Bertsch and two doubles each by Briana Angel and Hannah Gerecke.

After playing everyone in District 21-4A once so far, some things have become clear for the La Grange baseball team. 1. It’s going to be an uphill battle to make it back to the playoffs for La Grange. 2. This young Leopards team’s got plenty of fight in
them to draw on as they try to get back in the postseason picture.
