World Series-Bound

With a 2-1 victory in eight innings over Mid-County Tuesday, the Texas Tri-County 18-under Babe Ruth Baseball team won the Southwest Regional Title. The team now advances to the 2014 Babe Ruth Baseball World Series which will be held
in Ephrata, Washington from Aug. 7 to Aug. 14.

LG Demons Win Fourth Community League Title

The La Grange Demons baseball team won their fourth consecutive Community League baseball title with a 3-2 victory in 10 innings over the Serbin Jackrabbits at Voelkel/Koether Field at the Fayette County Fairgrounds Sunday. An early 2-0 lead for La Grange was erased when Serbin scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning on a La Grange throwing error

Locals Earn All-State Baseball Honors in 1A

Several Fayette County baseball players were named to the Class 1A Texas Sports Writers Association All-State baseball
team which was released Sunday. Flatonia senior Will Bruns was named a First Team catcher. Fayetteville senior Logan
Stoelke was picked as a First Team shortstop

LG Minor Girls Win Sectional Title

The La Grange Minor Girls all-stars are headed to the Texas East State softball tournament after winning the sectional title
in dramatic fashion Monday in Bastrop. La Grange had won their first two games of the doubleelimination event in strong
fashion Friday and Saturday, but then lost to Bryan National 6-5 Monday, but then bounced back in the title game to get revenge over Bryan 9-8.

Memorable Reunion at Nygrin’s Retirement Party

Former Round Top-Carmine athletes turned out in full force for Tanya Nygrin’s retirement party on June 29, which was attended by about 150 people. Nygrin won five state volleyball titles at RTC and announced her retirement earlier this year after 28 years coaching at the school. Many of her former athletes are shown above wearing their state championship medals.

Tri-County Wins South Texas State Title

The Texas Tri-County Babe Ruth baseball team won the South Texas State Title Saturday, beating Del Rio 9-6 in the title game in Weimar. The team will now compete in the Southwest Regional Tournament in Nederland, Texas July 18-22. Two More Softball Teams Claim District Titles

On back-to-back nights in Brenham, two more La Grange softball all-star teams won district titles. Monday, the La Grange
Major Girls all-star team capped off their undefeated run through their district tournament with a 4-2 victory over Washington County. The La Grange Major Girls won all four games they played in the seven-team tournament

LG Junior Boys Win All-Star Title

A third local team has clinched a district all-star title. The La Grange Junior boys completed an undefeated run through their district tournament in Altair, capping it off with an 11-1 victory over Bellville in the title game Thursday night. To get to that title game over the last week, the La Grange boys beat Waller County 17-7, beat Washington County 13-3 and Burleson County 9-4.
