Leps Wreck the Ricebirds

COLUMBUS – What a difference a year makes. Last year it was El Campo that ended La Grange’s hopes of football playoff glory as the Ricebirds knocked out the Leps in the first round on their eventual march to the state title game. But Thursday, the Leps got their revenge in a 42-7 first round playoff victory so dominant that it no doubt sends a statewide message that this unbeaten La Grange team (10-0) is most certainly a threat to make a very long playoff run.

Leps Put Finishing Touches On Perfect Regular Season

For the first time in 14 years, the La Grange football team has completed a perfect regular season. With a 42-12 pounding of Cuero Friday night, the Leps put the finishing touches on the first undefeated run in La Grange since 1999. To put that in perspective, most of the current Lep players were in preschool when that 1999 group, led by future TCU star quarterback Tye Gunn, went undefeated.

In a dominating way to close the regular season, Flatonia throttled Thrall 47-7 on the road Friday as six different Bulldogs  scored touchdowns. That win, coupled with Thorndale’s loss to Holland leaves Flatonia tied for the district title (a first for  the program since 1990) and completes quite a turnaround from last year’s 4-6 season.
