a crucial district game Friday against the Buffaloes with a 59- 53 win.

Lady Buffs Too Strong for LG

With a chance to pull into a tie for second in district, one bad quarter ruined the Lady Leps’ chances Friday in a 34-24 basketball loss to Giddings. The La Grange girls matched Giddings bucket-for-bucket most of the night – except in a
second quarter when the Lady Buffs built a double digit lead they would never lose.

LG Swimmers Advance to Regionals

La Grange High School swimmers attended their district swimming meet on Jan. 23 in Georgetown. Among the 10 teams attending the meet, La Grange place sixth overall in combined team score with 49 points. The La Grange women place fifth with 22 points and the La Grange men placed sixth with 27 points.

La Grange Basketball Teams Sweep Caldwell

Both La Grange basketball teams moved closer to securing playoff spots with important district wins Tuesday night. 
In Caldwell, the Lady Leps led the entire game and dominated the Lady Hornets 41-15, led by an 11-point night by Hannah Zuhn. The victory improves the Lady Leps’ record to 13-14 overall and 4-2 in district, further strengthening their hold on third place.

Lady Leps Beat Hempstead 7-0, Boys Fall to Bellville

The La Grange girls soccer team got one of the biggest wins in program history with a 7-0 dismantling of Hempstead Tuesday at home. La Grange led 5-0 at halftime. Selena Lara scored the first goal of the game, assisted by Miriam Renteria and Destiny Bulger. Then Jasamine Zapata scored the second goal on an assist from Renteria.

The LG Optimist Showstoppers have been practicing and gearing up for the game on Friday, February 6th against the Harlem Ambassadors basketball team. Navasota Sweeps Doubleheader with La Grange Basketball Teams

The La Grange boys basketball team put a scare into state-ranked Navasota Tuesday, before the Rattlers dominated things late to preserve a 71-52 win. Twice in the third quarter La Grange pulled to within four points of Navasota, but could never get closer than that in the second half.

Split Decision for LG Soccer Teams

The La Grange girls soccer team beat Gonzales 3-0 Tuesday at Leopard Stadium. Jasamine Zapata scored La Grange’s first goal in the ninth minute with assists coming from Jacquelyn Clarke and Miriam Renteria.

Leopards Slam Smithville 62-54

It is never, ever, boring when La Grange and Smithville get together on the basketball court. Last year the Tigers beat the 
Leps in a one-point epic regular season finale to win the district title. Friday, La Grange got a small measure of revenge in the district opener for both teams as the Leps prevailed at home 62- 54.
