Logan Wayne Meysembourg and Elizabeth Ludmila Kozel were married on October 10, 2015 at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn. The groom is the son of Mark and Lisa Meysembourg of Weimar. The bride is the daughter of Albert and Rita Pokluda Kozel of Swiss Alp/Hostyn.

Local Lions Club members performed vision screenings at St. James Episcopal preschool. The Lions Club of La Grange and Smithville have teamed together and purchased an OptixPlus machine which allows them to screen the vision of children age 6 months to 6 years.

The regular meeting of the Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282 was called to order by Regent Brenda Fietsam on March 14, in the Hostyn dining hall. The meeting was opened with the CDA prayer and pledges to the American and Texas flags.

An estimated 3,000 people attended the third annual Schulenburg Sausagefest on Saturday, April 2. Organizers said it was the biggest festival so far, with attendees traveling from as far away as Dallas and Nacogdoches.

A competition team stuffs sausage on Main Street in Schulenburg during the 2014 Schulenburg Sausage fest. The third annual event takes place this Saturday. Music starts at noon with performances by the Shiner Hobo Band, Czechaholics, Mark Halata and Texavia and Texas Dream.
