Holy Rosary Hostyn K.J.Z.T. Meets in January

Members of Society No. 23, Holy Rosary Hostyn, Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas K.J.Z.T. met Sunday, Jan. 26 for their first quarterly meeting. President Lillian Kallus called the meeting to order. Junior member Bethany Kallus led the opening prayer and pledges to the United States and Texas flags

The Fayetteville Brethren Christian Sisters will have a fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 8 on the square in Fayetteville at the old fire station. Breakfast tacos and coffee will be available at 7 a.m. along with a bake sale, raffle and country store

Brittany Schilhab of Fayetteville was recently selected to participate in the 2014 Miss Teen Austin/Waco pageant competition
that will take place on Sunday, Feb. 23. Brittany learned of her acceptance into this year’s competition when the pageant
announced their selections following interviewing in the local Austin/Waco area

50th Wedding Anniversary

Will and Carol Zbranek of Fort Worth celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 2. They were married in their hometown of La Grange in 1964. Living most of their lives in Lufkin, Will worked for Bank of America and Carol enjoyed volunteering in many civic organizations and being a mother. They have two daughters and son-in-laws, Debra and Sal Rodriguez of McKinney and Shelley and Stephen Douglas of Aledo

Flatonia on Saturday, Jan. 11. The theme was “God Made Me Special.” The program began  at 10 a.m. and was presented by Ann Heintschel. Topics covered were about God and the relationships we have in our journey of life

Hall in La Grange. Agnes Hannes, author of Vera Kara’s Family; gave a detailed, factual, and insightful outline of the failures and successes of Vera Kara’s determination, insights, and abilities to overcome seemingly almost impossible odds.
