Stuart and Susie Markwardt of Carmine announce the engagement of their daughter, Shelby Rae Markwardt, to Robert Clayton Vaughn, son of Robert and Liz Vaughn of Eagletown, Oklahoma. The wedding will take place in Carmine on July 30, 2016.

The Sacred Heart Altar Society members met on Monday, Feb. 1 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. President Karen Janda called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. and led members in the opening prayer. There were twenty five members in attendance.

On Sunday, Jan. 31, Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas, K.J.Z.T. Society No. 23, Holy Rosary Hostyn members met for their first quarterly meeting at the Hostyn Parish Hall. President Lillian Kallus called the meeting to order.

Girl Scouts Jade Ackerman and Maggy Drake of Troop 1914 got to meet Kevin Schwantz, an American former World Champion Motorcycle road racer. He was kind to the girls and enjoyed eating the Girl Scout cookies.

The Hostyn Catholic Daughters sponsored a Rosary and March for Life on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. The march began at the Columbarium with a prayer for unborn, welcome and rosary led by Vice regent Lillian Kallus.
