Cordes and Simpson Married in Double Ring Ceremony

Kathryn Diane Cordes of Austin and Christopher Stephen Simpson of Austin were married October 12, 2013 at 2 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Father Steven Sauser. Parents of the bride are Gene and Lisa Cordes and Susan and Harvey Pauler of Fayetteville.

Sacred Heart Altar Society Holds Election of Officers

The Sacred Heart Altar Society met in December with President Karen Janda opening the meeting with members reciting 
the opening prayer, Salute to the Cross and the pledge of allegiance to the U.S. flag. Secretary Stacey Sims read the minutes of the November meeting which were approved as corrected.

CDA Meets, Finalizes December Programs

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Annunciation #1962 held their monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 25 at the Sacred Heart Center in La Grange. Preceding the meeting a light meal was served beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the following members serving on the committee: Betty Urban, Linda Urban, Kelly Urban, Margie Urban, Michelle Urban, Rose Urbanovsky, Susan Vecera, and Sharon Vinklarek

Cake Baking Contest

Monument Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in La Grange recently held their first cake baking contest on Nov. 22 where cakes were judged on flavor, appearance and originality. Judges were from left: Rodney Krhovjak, Tom Carter, Elsa Gonzalez, Jill Stueber, Glenna Laffey, and Vi Taylor-Mueller.

Inducted Into Honor Society

Megan Steinhauser was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, an International Honors Society that honors excellent students and excellent teachers at Texas State University. Megan, a senior in the College of Education at Texas State University has maintained a 4.0 gpa and will graduate in the spring of 2014 with certification to teach Kindergarten through twelfth grade with a specialty in Special Education

Cude, Zamarron to Wed

Tommy and Elizabeth Cude of San Antonio announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Christy Elizabeth, to Carson Ray Zamarron, son of Ramon Zamarron, III and Melanie Zamarron of Austin. Christy is the grandaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lelon Cude and Mrs. Susie Christy of Georgetown and the late Mr. Sam Christy. Carson is the grandson of Mr. Ramon Zamarron Jr. of San Angelo and Mrs. Myra Cortez of Austin and the late Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Hengst. Christy is employed with A.I.S.D. as a Secondary Learning Specialist and is pursuing a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership at Texas State University. Carson is employed as an Outbound Supervisor with Lykes Cartage Co. in Austin and is pursuing a Nursing Degree at A.C.C. The wedding is planned for Dec. 21 in San Antonio

Hostyn Catholic Daughters Meet

Hostyn Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Queen of the Holy Rosary, #2282 met Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in the parish hall with thirteen members in attendance. Regent Brenda Fietsam opened the meeting by thanking everyone for attending. She
then led the opening prayers and pledges to the American and Texas flags.

K.J.Z.T. Society 31 Hold Annual Meeting

On Thursday, Nov. 14, members of Society 31, St. Frances of Rome of La Grange, Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas
– K.J.Z.T. met for their annual meeting in the Sacred Heart Center. President Marilyn Kothmann called the meeting to order
at 4:30 p.m. and led members in opening prayers remembering deceased members Diana Horelica and Adela Kubesch, the people of Philippines, and all Veterans, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to both the United States and Texas flags

Wessels Descendants Hold Reunion Nov. 10

A large group of Wessels descendants gathered on Sunday, Nov. 10 at the recently relocated and reconstructed Wessels Dance Hall at Pioneer Village in Austin. The relocation of the hall was the generous gift from the V.F. and Laura Wessels Havemann family.

Industry, Fayetteville Brethren Honor Vets

Industry and Fayetteville Brethren Churches honored 140 veterans on Sunday, Nov. 10 at the Industry Brethren Church 9 a.m. service. This was the fourth annual service of this kind for the churches. There were 136 veterans on the program and four guest veterans recognized. Each living veteran received a remembrance ribbon with red poppy and “thanks” on it as well as a small U.S. flag that noted the event.
