Delta Epsilon Students Read Children’s Books

Delta Epsilon Phi students Keisha Soto and Susana Maldonado read “Prinz Franz Total Verliebt” to 6th graders at the Intermediate School library. Every year, the Delta Epsilon Phi German Honor Society students, who among other requirements, must maintain an A average in all of their coursework in high school to be inducted, read German children’s books to Intermediate school students

RT-Carmine Class of 1959 Holds Reunion

The Round Top-Carmine Class of 1959 gathered at the Shelby Fire Station to celebrate their 56th year reunion on Saturday, April 18. Hostyn Catholic Daughters Make Donation

The Hostyn Catholic Daughters Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282 donated a $200 check
to the scholarship breakfast fund after mass Sunday. Pictured in front are: Father Dan Kahlich,

Schulenburg Garden Club Holds 2015 Flower Show

Schulenburg Garden Club hosted a Standard Flower Show at the Civic Center on April 14. One of the goals of a flower show is to educate the public. Bernice Havel, Flower Show Chair was pleased that members brought so many interesting plants in prime condition for attendees to view.

Jennings, Sanders to Wed

Jim and Jennifer Sanders of La Grange along with Scott and Kristi Eck of Lorena and Joel and Laura Jennings of Dallas announce the upcoming marriage of their children, Brendan Sanders to Kori Jennings of Temple. Brendan is the grandson of the late Harold and Judy Stueber of La Grange; grandson of Rev. Henry and Naomi Sanders and great grandson of Helen Guinn all of Navasota. Kori is the granddaughter of Melody and Tommy Gober, Jr. Great-grandparents are Pearl and Tommy Gober, Sr. all of Moody, and Bonnie and Bill Jennings of Arlingtron. The bride-to-be was home schooled and graduated in 2012. The groom-to-be is a 2013 graduate of Harker Heights High School in Harker Heights. Both are employed in Temple. A May wedding is planned at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area on Fort Hood Reservation.

The following local residents recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Jayme Bisbano, a Fayetteville graduate was initiated at Texas State University.

Schulenburg Aldermen Concerned About New Permits, Inspections

At the Schulenburg City Council meeting on Monday, April 20, a few of the aldermen raised concerns about the City’s new building permit and inspection process provided by the Bureau Veritas company. Alderman Larry Veselka requested the item on the meeting agenda after fielding complaints from property owners and contractors over the high cost of construction permits and stringent inspections by Bureau Veritas employees.
