Local Facility Receives Rescue Training

On Saturday, Oct. 4, ALPHA Search and Recovery provided Monument Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center an informative “reenactment” drill focused on locating a missing person. This drill allowed center staff to be trained, by search and rescue professionals, on how to strategically find a missing individual. Although not too common, the possibility of a nursing facility
resident getting lost remains a possibility.

LGISD Celebrates National School Lunch Week

National School Lunch Week aims to get kids excited about healthy foods and physical exercise. To recognize the National School Lunch Program and the 30 million children it serves everyday, La Grange ISD schools will recognize National School Lunch Week from October 13 -17. The theme “ Get in the Game with School Lunch” will feature events and activities that promote the importance of balancing healthy eating with physical activities and exercise.

Fayetteville Schools Reunion Held Sept. 20

The annual Fayetteville Schools Reunion, hosted by the 1964 graduates of St. John’s Catholic School and Fayetteville High School, was held on Sept. 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. at St. John’s Recreation Hall. According to those who regularly attend, the 140 people at the event comprised the largest number that they recall being at the reunion

The La Grange Chapter of Randolph Alumni Meets

The La Grange Chapter of the Randolph School Alumni held its first meeting for 2014- 2015 on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Randolph High School. There were 19 members and one guest present. President Johnie Walker presided over the business meeting. Ernestine Wilkerson offered prayer and members introduced themselves.

Court Queen of the Holy Rosary Meets, Prayer Blanket Blessing Held Sept. 8

The regular meeting of the Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282 was called to order by Regent Brenda Fietsam on Monday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Hostyn dining hall. Regent Fietsam welcomed everyone and introduced the guests. Recording Secretary Linda Wagner read the minutes of the last meeting of June 9. They were approved as read. The Court received a thank you note from the Family Crisis Center for the personal care items given. Also thank you notes were received on behalf of a Prayer Blanket recipient and from a high school graduate.

Outgoing Quilt Guild President Reports On Year Activities, New Officers Installed

Jackie Asbell, outgoing President of the Colorado Valley Guild, summarized service projects to the central Texas  community in her final meeting on Aug. 26. The Colorado Valley Quilt  Guild has a long history of producing service projects to benefit
the community. In the prior twelve months, two quilts were completed to assist with fund raising for the Gardenia E. Janssen
Animal Shelter, and a quilt was also donated for display to the St. Mark’s Medical Center Foundation.
