‘A Patriot’s Heart’ Presentation Nov. 13

The Sages & Saints of La Grange First United Methodist Church will be hosting a potluck supper to be followed by a presentation by Mary Margaret Mann entitled “A Patriot’s Heart.” There is no charge for this event which will be held Thursday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at 1215 Von Minden in La Grange. Dessert will be provided by Sages
& Saints.

RT-C Class of 1954 Celebrates 60 Years

The Round Top-Carmine High School class of 1954 recently celebrated their 60th year class reunion; inviting class  members from the year of 1953 and 1955. A total of 37 attended. A catered meal of chicken fried pork steak was served. Prior to the meal, while reminiscing, fellowship, snacks and drinks were enjoyed

LGHS Class of 1959 Has 55th Reunion

The La Grange High School class of 1959 held their 55th class reunion the weekend of Oct. 24-26. The weekend started out at noon on Friday with lunch at the Eugene and Barbara Zoch residence in Warda and that evening a fish fry at Jimmie Schielack’s Old Park Lodge. Saturday ended with an evening dinner at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club and Sunday morning breakfast was held at Werner and Rosemarie Willrich’s residence.

Grand Champion Haunted House

Austen Diggs won Grand Champion with his spooky haunted house cake at the Sacred Heart Fall Festival. Making the house took four hours and it sold for $120 in the live auction, with the money donated to Sacred Heart School

Swiss Alp-Washington Country Schools Reunite

The 19th Swiss Alp School Reunion and the 14th Washington School Reunion were held Thursday, Oct. 9 at the Oakridge
Restaurant in Schulenburg. Registration began at 11 a.m. Carolyn “Graeter” Tobola welcomed everyone. A total of 14 students and six guests attended. Six students were from Swiss Alp School and eight students were from Washington
school.

More Recognition for Shakespeare at Winedale

University of Texas Professor Emeritus Jim (Doc) Ayres and his successor at Shakespeare at Winedale, Professor James Loehlin, were honored with their second Shakespearean awards this year on Sept. 27 at the American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Theater in Staunton, Virginia. The Burbage Award, named for James Burbage, who built the first theater in London in 1576 called appropriately, “The Theater,” is made annually by the Center, recognizing extraordinary accomplishment in performing Shakespeare’s plays

LHS Class of 1964 Holds 50th Reunion

The La Grange High School Class of 1964 met for their 50th class reunion on Aug. 16 at 4 p.m. at the Rutersville Hermann  Sons Lodge Hall. Forty-two classmates were in attendance along with thirty spouses. The evening was spent with getting reacquainted, reminiscing, and just catching up on the last 50 years while enjoying snacks and drinks and a barbecue dinner
