La Grange High School graduate Brittany Kaye Wich is graduating Magna Cum Laude from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Communications Studies on Dec. 12. Brittany is the daughter of Chris and Alicia Wich.

Vets Deliver Goods to Wounded Warriors Before the Holidays

Vietnam Veterans Chapter No. 870 made a trip to wounded warriors in San Antonio Nov. 20. The chapter is truly grateful for all the donations that were given and the warriors were waiting for their arrival, mainly because of all the homemade kolaches and other homemade baked items. Even the pigs-in-th-blanket made a big hit. Over $1,000 worth of calling cards and H-E-B cards were donated which were greatly appreciated.

Society 31 of La Grange, St. Frances of Rome, Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas – K.J.Z.T., held its’ annual meeting and
family social on Thursday, Nov.20, at the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. President Marilyn Kothmann called the
meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. with opening prayers for living and deceased members of Society 31 and Pledges of Allegiance to both the U.S. and Texas flags

The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association met on Nov. 10 at the First United Methodist  Church Fellowship Hall in
La Grange. The members enjoyed social time prior to the introduction of the speaker. Elaine Teas was the featured speaker. She spoke on the topic, “Thousands of Steps in Spain on the Camino de Santiago”.

Hernandez’s 1895 House On Holiday Homes Tour

The Carol and Kenny Hernandez home at 558 North Madison Street in La Grange will be featured in the Pilot Club of La
Grange Holiday Homes Tour December 7. When purchasing the residence in 1997, the Hernandez’s who had lived in another historic home constructed in 1882, felt they were transitioning to “newer construction” so to say, as the house at 558
N. Madison was built in 1895 by John P. and Mabel Ehlinger.

Locals to Perform in Nutcracker at Festival Hill

Round Top Festival Institute will once again present an encore performance of Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic, The  Nutcracker. This year’s production celebrates the 7th annual performance danced by Ovation, a youth ballet company in residency at Dancers Workshop in Austin.
