New Clinic Supporters Surprised by Backlash

The backlash that some citizens have expressed to the plan to turn the old Fayette Memorial Hospital into a clinic has surprised some of the principal organizers of the project. “It’s morphed into perhaps issues that were not on our radar at all,” said La Grange superintendent Randy Albers.

LG Hosting State COPs Convention This Week

You better be especially good this weekend.There’s going to be a lot of extra law enforcement personnel in town Thursday through Sunday as La Grange hosts the 2015 Texas Citizens on Patrol state convention. La Grange Police Chief Jackie Skelton, one of the organizers of the event, said he is preparing for about 125 attendees from 20 Citizens on Patrol groups from around the state as far away as Beaumont and Dallas-Fort Worth.

Baptism at the Remnant

The Remnant Church in La Grange has a special baptism service several times per year. Recently,
ten people were water baptized, making a public commitment of their decision to follow Jesus. The adults baptized were Sharon Hollmann, Jennifer Berry, Walter Sutton, Dustin Burton,
and Shandrae Wright.

Shared Lutheran Ministry Recognizes Members

The Shared Lutheran Ministry congregations, St. John, Ellinger; St. Paul, Fayetteville; St. John, Rutersville; and St. John’s, Warrenton had a joint worship service Sunday, May 24 at St. Paul in Fayetteville. The 80 plus members of the four congregations that were recognized and given white carnations were seated: Jerry Sauer and Genell Rohde; next row: Clive Fridell, Corrine Lehmann and Delvin Zingelmann, a guest from the St. Paul Lutheran congregation in La Grange; back row: Viola Weiss, Ed Nimitz, Leatrice Scholtz, Ann Nimitz, and Marian Frerichs.

St. Ann’s Society Donates to Religious Education

Each year societies of catholic family fraternal of Texas- K.J.Z.T.focus on participating in parish and community work projects and fundraisers throughout the State. The 100 Project will provide $100 dollars from the state office to each society to be given to the charity of their choice.

VFW, Ladies Auxiliary Celebrate Loyalty Day

The VFW Post No. 5254 and its Ladies Auxiliary celebrated Loyalty Day at their May meeting with a catered barbecue and sausage meal with all the trimmings. Commander Dick Frenzel welcomed all and proclaimed loyalty to flag and country. VFW Chaplain Glen Altwein gave the prayer before the catered meal. The program reflected the goal of the VFW and Auxiliary: Feeding the Children. After the meal, La Grange ISD Food Service Manager Nancy Tielsch presented a slide program detailing the basic history of the Summer Lunch Bag program at La Grange ISD, which runs through June and July, providing a balanced meal at the noon hour for many of La Grange ISD students.

Record Travels to Disney World

During their trip to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., with the La Grange High School Marching Band, these three band members had their picture taken with two Disney characters while reading the Fayette County Record.
