Storyteller Elizabeth Ellis Comes to ARTS

Arts for Rural Texas is proud to bring Elizabeth Ellis, a professional storyteller to local schools as the first Fine Art assembly of the 2014-15 school year. Ellis will be performing for all age groups at local area ISD’s on Sept. 4 and 5 and will also perform a house concert performance at the Ross Gallery on the square in Fayetteville for the general public Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.

CDA #2282 Gives to Family Crisis Center

The Hostyn Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #2282 held a presentation to the Family Crisis Center on Wednesday Aug. 14 from the Spiritual Adoption Program. The gifts were collected from a recent baby shower for Fayette County babies in need, also two large bags of toiletries were presented to Martha Upchurch, a representative from the Family Crisis Center

Shine Time Talent Show

At The Remnant Church in La Grange on Wednesday Aug. 13, 27 children and youth (ages two through high school) participated in the 3rd Annual “Shine Time” Talent Show. The purpose of this talent show comes from Matthew 5:16 - “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Lemonade Stand Benefits AMEN

On Monday morning, Aug. 11, a group of La Grange kids set up a lemonade stand to raise money for AMEN. They raised $135. Walhalla Extension Education Club Meets July 20

The Walhalla Extension Education Association Club met July 20 in Weimar for a barbecue get-together hosted by Norma
Brown. There were 36 members, spouses and friends present. Everyone brought a covered dish and sat around visiting with members they hadn’t seen in a while. Four members celebrated birthdays for the month. The next meeting will be Aug. 17 at the E.H. Kichen located at the Fayette County Fairgrounds at 3:30 p.m.

New iPads for Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool

Because of a grant from the Texas Women’s League, there will be iPads for each classroom at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool. Becky and Philip Weikel have been busy downloading educational apps so the staff will be able to use them
this fall. Becky took time to demonstrate their use to summer school students and staff.
