Hernandez’s 1895 House On Holiday Homes Tour

The Carol and Kenny Hernandez home at 558 North Madison Street in La Grange will be featured in the Pilot Club of La
Grange Holiday Homes Tour December 7. When purchasing the residence in 1997, the Hernandez’s who had lived in another historic home constructed in 1882, felt they were transitioning to “newer construction” so to say, as the house at 558
N. Madison was built in 1895 by John P. and Mabel Ehlinger.

Locals to Perform in Nutcracker at Festival Hill

Round Top Festival Institute will once again present an encore performance of Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic, The  Nutcracker. This year’s production celebrates the 7th annual performance danced by Ovation, a youth ballet company in residency at Dancers Workshop in Austin.

La Grange’s Mini Horse Helpers Visit School

The St. Michael Catholic School Pre-K thru 4th grade students were recently introduced to the Mini Horse Helpers, an allvolunteer non-profit organization from La Grange who bring  miniature horses and humans together in healing relationships and to promote literacy.

Sacred Heart Altar Society Meets

The Sacred Heart Altar Society members met on Nov. 3 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. President Karen Janda opened the meeting and led members in the opening prayer. There were twenty-five members in attendance. In the absence of the Secretary, the minutes were read by the Vice President.

‘A Patriot’s Heart’ Presentation Nov. 13

The Sages & Saints of La Grange First United Methodist Church will be hosting a potluck supper to be followed by a presentation by Mary Margaret Mann entitled “A Patriot’s Heart.” There is no charge for this event which will be held Thursday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at 1215 Von Minden in La Grange. Dessert will be provided by Sages
& Saints.

RT-C Class of 1954 Celebrates 60 Years

The Round Top-Carmine High School class of 1954 recently celebrated their 60th year class reunion; inviting class  members from the year of 1953 and 1955. A total of 37 attended. A catered meal of chicken fried pork steak was served. Prior to the meal, while reminiscing, fellowship, snacks and drinks were enjoyed

LGHS Class of 1959 Has 55th Reunion

The La Grange High School class of 1959 held their 55th class reunion the weekend of Oct. 24-26. The weekend started out at noon on Friday with lunch at the Eugene and Barbara Zoch residence in Warda and that evening a fish fry at Jimmie Schielack’s Old Park Lodge. Saturday ended with an evening dinner at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club and Sunday morning breakfast was held at Werner and Rosemarie Willrich’s residence.

Grand Champion Haunted House

Austen Diggs won Grand Champion with his spooky haunted house cake at the Sacred Heart Fall Festival. Making the house took four hours and it sold for $120 in the live auction, with the money donated to Sacred Heart School

LHS Book Club Attends Festival

Several members of the La Grange High School Book Club are pictured here reading their new books after an event-filled day at the Texas Teen Book Festival. The festival took place at St. Edward’s University in Austin on Saturday, Oct. 18.
