Marie Julie (Chovanec) Hrachovy

Marie Julie (Chovanec) Hrachovy, 96, of Fayetteville, died July 22, 2015 at the TruCare Nursing Center in Columbus. Marie was born in Ellinger on Aug. 3, 1918, the daughter of Jos. F and Mary (Prihoda) Chovanec. She married Henry Hrachovy on Oct. 18, 1938. Marie lived in the country all her life, working beside her husband as they raised corn, peanuts, cattle and chickens. She always had a big garden and did lots of canning. Everyone loved her pickles. She was a good cook and loved baking especially kolaches, strudel and angel food cake. She also did a lot of sewing and quilting and gave many a quilt to the St. Mary’s Church Feast Auction.

Josephine “Jo” Pasak Rawlings of La Grange, formerly of Wharton, died July 24, 2015 in La Grange. Visitation will be held from 12 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.

Alice Ruth (Eifert) Kunze, 86, of Warda, died Saturday, July 25, 2015. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. A prayer service will be recited at 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Warda.

Elvie Lou Luetge

Elvie Lou Luetge, of Washington D.C. (formerly of Austin) died at her home on June 28, 2015.
Elvie Lou was born in Houston to Otto and Elvira (Mayer) Luetge. At a young age her family moved to Shelby where she attended Round Top-Carmine Schools. After graduation she moved to Austin where she attended and graduated from The University of Texas with a Bachelor Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Elvie Lou is survived by her brother, Kenneth Luetge and his wife, Audrey of Georgetown; two aunts, Rose Mayer of La Grange and Ann Scholtz, of Austin, and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents Otto and Elvira Luetge. Memorial Services are pending. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Foundry United Methodist Church at 1500 16th Street NW, Washington D.C. 20036 or St. Martin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 606 West 15th Street, Austin, Texas 78701 or to the charity of one’s choice.
