Lucille B. (Bertrand) Rideout, 103, of La Grange, died Monday, June 1, 2015. Lucille was born in Bourbonnais, Ill. on April 20, 1912, the daughter of Gordan and Mary (Audette) Bertrand. She married Jay Rideout in San Francisco, Calif. on Dec. 20, 1949. Lucille worked as a secretary. She also loved to farm. She was a wonderful homemaker and a very accomplished seamstress. She always made beautiful clothing. Lucille was one of the oldest members of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Annunciation No. 1962; a Lifetime Member Award recipient of St. Mark’s Hospital Auxiliary; also a La Grange Garden Club and Texas Women’s League member. She is survived by two nephews: Edward DeMarah and wife, Amy, of Illinois and Robert DeMarah of Washington; friends, Melvin and Carol Austin and Tim and Susan Pylant all of La Grange. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jay; two brothers: Leo and Philbert Bertrand; sister, Muriel DeMarah; and nephew, Arthur DeMarah.

Harold Dean Hutson, 83, of Blue, Texas, died Monday, June 1, 2015 at his residence. Harold was born on Oct. 27, 1931 in Blue, Texas to Forrest Munson Hutson and Bertha Lee (Oppelt) Hutson. He married Ruth Fenwick on Sept. 30, 1960 in Ballinger. Harold was a hardworking, honest man. He lived for his family. He cherished every moment he had with his wife, daughters and grandkids. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Lexington. Pastor Chris Bruce officiated. Burial immediately followed in the Burns cemetery. Harold is survived by his wife, Ruth Hutson of Blue; four daughters, Debbie Nuckols, Judy Griffith, Deana Read and husband Dale, and Lisa Simpson and husband Troy; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren;one brother, Guy Hutson and wife Carolyn; sisters in law, Kathy Spencer and husband Richard, and Evon Hutson; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bernice Beisert Winkler, 88, of Giddings, died Sunday, May 31, 2015 at her home in Giddings. Bernice was born on Oct. 4, 1926 in Loebau, Texas to Oscar Herman Beisert and Amanda
Alma (Kasper) Beisert. She was baptized on Oct. 17, 1926 by Rev. C. Durow at Christ Lutheran
Church in Loebau. She attended the Lutheran school and was confirmed on April 2, 1939 by Rev. H.O. Hartfield. She was united in marriage to Erwin Winkler on July 18, 1948 at Christ Lutheran Church by Rev. H.O. Hartfield. Their marriage was blessed by four children – Helen, Nora, Alice and Daniel. She was a hard worker being a dedicated wife and a stay at home mom. She enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family. She loved working in the garden, canning and fishing. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. The Rev. Robert Tiner officiated. Burial was held in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Jose M. Flores, 96, of La Grange, died Thursday, May 28, 2015 at his home in La Grange. Jose was born in Mexico on Nov. 25, 1918, the son of Jose Flores and Paz (Ramirez) Flores. He married his beloved wife on Aug. 20, 1954 in Mexico. Jose was a Horse Trainer and Rancher for 50 years and retired in 1995. He loved fishing and working with cattle. He was a hardworking man and wonderful husband and father. Jose was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. Visitation was held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. Ryan Keith Bage, 25, of Weimar, died Friday, May 29, 2015. Ryan was born in Houston on Aug. 2, 1989, the son of Brian and Sharon (Dittrich) Bage. Ryan attended the University of Texas as a music major and math minor. He played the alto sax and numerous other instruments; and was the recipient of the John Philip Sousa Award in High School. Ryan spent his time on the
family farm caring for the animals, especially his two rescue horses. His fondest memories were the summers at Rocky River Ranch Camp spent as a counselor working with horses in Wimberley. His pride and joy was his dog, Skyelar. Ryan was a caregiver to his grandmother

John Cecil Johnson, 93, of La Grange, died Friday, May 29, 2015. John was born in Moody on May 18, 1922, the son of John Alonzo Johnson and Effie Arella (King) Johnson. John served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He was honorably discharged as a SSG in 1946. He worked as a Precision Instrument Designer at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. He is survived by wife, Mary Jane (Scott) Johnson; two brothers: Willis Howard Johnson and wife, Barbara, and Cloyce Johnson and wife, Hazel, all of Iola; sister, Helen Pope of Temple; brother-in-law, Ted Scott and wife, Betty, of Florida; and numerous extended family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2015 beginning at 1 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange.
Burial will follow at La Grange City Cemetery. Koenig & Srickland Funeral Home in La Grange was in charge of arrangements.

David J. Schneider, 73, of La Grange, died peacefully at his daughter and son-in-law’s home
in Huntington Beach, Calif., on May 22, 2015, after a long battle with Leukemia and Lymphoma. David was born on July 26, 1941, in Winfield, KS, to William “Bill” and Eudora “Peg” (Ferrell) Schneider, the eldest of three children. David’s childhood and college years were primarily spent with his family in Omaha, Neb. In 1965, he joined the Navy and served as a Naval Officer on board the USS Prime. David was a veteran of the Vietnam War. David graduated from the University of Omaha with a Degree in Biology. He went on to get his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He worked as a CPA in Nebraska and went on to join the IRS, which ultimately led him to his own CPA practice in La Grange, where he was a
resident for the past 31 years. David enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid hiker. He was an

Evelyn (Kuhn) Bolling, 96, of Houston, died Saturday, May 23, 2015. Evelyn was born in Carmine on Dec. 9, 1918, the daughter of William Kuhn and Annie (Giessel) Kuhn. She moved to Houston to find work. While there, she met Elmer Theo Bolling at Bill Mraz Dance Hall in Houston where she loved to go and listen to the polka music they played. Elmer was from the Schulenburg/Swiss Alp area of Fayette County and had recently moved to Houston also to find work. She fell in love and married Elmer on Aug. 5, 1949 in Houston, where she devoted her life to her husband and raising her two sons. She enjoyed listening to polka music and watching polka shows on TV, especially Big Joe bringing all the polka bands to the Carmine Red Barn; reading romance novels; going out to eat her favorite food, fried shrimp; people watching; and striking up a conversation with anyone anywhere. Evelyn kept her small town charm even though she lived in the city.

Valary Sophie (Schneider) Smith, 84, of La Grange, died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Columbus
Community Hospital in Columbus. She was born in Indian Creek, Texas on Nov, 1, 1930, the daughter of the late Gus and Sophia, (Hayek) Schneider. She married Jesse Lee Smith Dec. 28, 1950 in Galveston. Valary worked as a medical assistant for over 40 years before her retirement. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her family and continued to work as
a volunteer for her church and Second Chance Emporium, and she supported the La Grange
Volunteer Fire Department. She is survived by: son Scott Smith and wife Mary of McKinney,
grandson Scott Smith II and wife Kanokwan and greatgranddaughter Quinlyn; stepgrandchildren
