Robert W. (Bob) Gayken

Robert W. (Bob) Gayken, 61, of Schulenburg, died Nov. 29, 2013. Robert was born on Oct. 9, 1952 in Oakland, Calif. to Lester William Gayken and Lois Fay Clark Gayken. He served in the United States Air Force and was a retired wood worker.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange.
Memorial contributions may be made to CTVHCS for Medical Services, 1901 Veterans Memorial Dr., Temple, Texas 76504.

Dennis L. Powell.

On Nov. 25, 2013 God called home His saint, Dennis L. Powell. He passed away quietly in La Grange after a long battle
with multiple illnesses, the most debilitating being osteoarthritis. He was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas and raised in  Brewer Bottoms, Ark. He graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1960. His working career, which consisted of four decades, was divided between working at Riceland Foods as a plant operation supervisor and driving eighteen wheelers. His favorite and final job commenced when he fulfilled his life-long dream as an independent owner/operator trucker driving for “the Dennis and Pam” driving team. Kenneth Wayne (Kenny) Ullrich

Kenneth Wayne (Kenny) Ullrich, 74, died Dec. 3, 2013 in La Grange. Kenny was born on March 24, 1939 in Carmine to Willie A. Ullrich and Verlie Albers Ullrich. He was the founder and owner of Electric Motor Service  in La Grange, member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, EASA, Farm Bureau, La Grange Volunteer Fire Department and the Round Top-Warrenton Fire Department. Kenny enjoyed working with his cattle and deer hunting. Kenny is survived by two daughters; Wendy McDaniel and husband Jesse of Carmine, Penny Sengler and husband Peter of La Grange; granddaughter, Robin Sengler of La Grange; two stepgranddaughters, Cassie Adams and husband Billy of Lufkin and

Frank J. Gerik, 76, of Fayetteville died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013. Frank was born May 27, 1937 in Fayetteville to Frank
and Rosie (Marek) Gerik. He attended St. John Catholic School and married Clara (Janish) Gerik on Oct. 10, 1956 at
St. John Catholic Church in Fayetteville. A lifelong resident of the area, Frank was a hardworking dedicated family man.

Rosie L. James, 99, of La Grange died Nov. 25, 2013 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange. She was born July 8, 1914 in Fayette County to William, Sr. and Sophia (Gates) Demerson. She was employed as a nurse’s aide and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in La Grange. She is survived by son Calvin and wife Karen James of
Richmond; sister Gladys Demerson of La Grange; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, paretns, four sisters, and five brothers. Funeral services were held Dec. 1, 2013 at St. James
United Methodist Church in La Grange at 1 p.m. The Rev. Morris Daugherty officiated. Burial followed in the La Grange City

James Isaac Oakes

James Isaac Oakes, 58, of La Grange died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 in Austin. He was born Oct. 12, 1955 to Wilburn and Elizabeth (Brown) Oakes in Needville. He is survived by son Cassius and wife Glenda Oakes of Houston; sisters,  Barbara Oaks- Ladmirault of California, Ianthe Byrd of Las Vegas, Nev., Ester Bolden of Needville; brother Rueben Oakes of Needville; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in La Grange at 11 a.m. The Rev. Louis Zachary officated. 
Burial followed in the La Grange City Cemetery. Tommy E. Taylor Funeral Home in La Grange was in charge of  arrangements.

Glein Toliver, 87, of La Grange died Nov. 11, 2013 at Care Inn Nursing Home in La Grange. He was born Feb. 24, 1926
in Walhalla to Saul Benford and Luvinia (Benford) Banks. He is survived by son Charles L. Toliver of La Grange. Funeral services were held Nov. 23 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in La Grange at 2 p.m. The Rev. Louis Zachary officiated. Burial followed at Little Bethel Cemetery in La Grange. Tommy E. Kermit Bruce Heinsohn

Kermit Bruce Heinsohn, 88, of Fayetteville, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at Monument Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in La Grange. Kermit was born in Fayetteville on April 19, 1925 the son of Arnold and Laura (Onken)
Heinsohn. Kermit worked with furniture restoration, specializing in antique furniture. From 1951 to 1982 he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier. He served on the Fayetteville City Council, St. Paul Lutheran Church Council, Fayetteville City Cemetery Association and a member of the Masons. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gay Nell (Fritsch) Heinsohn; brother-in-law, Adrian Fritsch and wife, Virginia of Columbus; sister-in-law, Ruth (Fritsch) Marek and husband, J.D. of San Antonio; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, uncle, Alvin Onken and wife, Stella and Uncle Bennie Heinsohn.
