Janis McGee Lehmann

Janis McGee Lehmann, 60, of Winchester, died Nov. 28, 2014. Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 7 to 8 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester. Burial will follow in the Winchester
City Cemetery. Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings is in charge of arrangements

Ruth Ann Fritsch Marek

Norman W. Mersiovsky, 77, of La Grange died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014. Norman was born in The Grove, Texas on March 6, 1937, the son of Martin and Ella (Deutschmann) Mersiovsky. He was baptized on March 21, 1937 and confirmed in the Christian faith with the confirmation verse of 2 Peter 3:18—But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. He graduated from Jarrell High School, where he played 6-man football. On Nov. 20, 1960, he married Carolyn Ann Koepke at Trinity Hill Lutheran Church in La Grange. Norman served his country for 20 years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged upon his retirement on May 19, 1980 after achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. While stationed in Portales, New Mexico, Norman received his Associate degree in General Arts at Eastern New Mexico University. As a devout Christian, Norman was actively involved in each Lutheran Church wherever he was stationed.

Ruth Ann Fritsch Marek

Ruth Ann Fritsch Marek, 77, went to be with Our Heavenly Father on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 in San Antonio. She was born April 25, 1937 to Henry and Augusta Hengst Fritsch in Fayetteville. Ruth was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother (Mammy). She enjoyed traveling with her husband and making memories with her family and friends. Ruth made the holidays special for her family and liked preparing the holiday feast. She was a longtime active member of Shepherd King Lutheran Church. Ruth was an avid tennis player, and loved celebrating monthly birthday lunches with her tennis group and friends. Ruth is survived by her husband of 59 years, JD Marek; daughter, Debbie Stracke and husband, Steve; daughter, Laurie Underwood and husband, Grason; grandchildren, Brittany and Nathan Stracke, Aaron and Garrett Underwood; brother, Adrian Fritsch and wife, Virginia; sister, Gaynell Heinsohn and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Nicey L. Collins

Nicey L. Collins, died Nov. 19, 2014. Her life was celebrated on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lilly Grove Baptist 
Church at 7034 Tierwester in Houston. The Rev. Terry K. Anderson officiated. A viewing was held from at 10 to 10:55 a.m.
A second celebration will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at Second Baptist Church, located at 1010 N. Von Minden 
in La Grange. The Rev. Michael Simms will officiate. Interment will follow in the La Grange City Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Ruby Carroll and Dennis and Hazel Kimble; one son, Richard Blair and wife Dortha and a host of loving relatives. Troy B. Smith Professional Services in Houston is in charge of arrangements.

Pamela Jean Votaw Hughes

Pamela Jean Votaw Hughes, 48, of Weimar, died Nov. 11, 2014 in Weimar. She was born on Sept. 20, 1966 to Edwin and Gertrude (Hoffmann) Votaw in Weimar. On Sept. 20, 1987 Pamela married Thomas K. Hughes. She worked as an assistant manager for Speedy Stop Convenience Store in Schulenburg. Pamela is survived by her husband, Tom Hughes of Weimar; father, Edwin Votaw of Weimar; sons, John Hughes II of Weimar, and Dustin Hughes of Weimar; sister, Sherry Votaw Huebel and husband Ronnie Huebel of Columbus; half-sisters, Charlotte Hoffmann Rau

James B. “Bubba” Hruska

James B. “Bubba” Hruska, 93, of La Grange, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. Bubba was born in La Grange on Aug. 16, 1921, the son of William C. Hruska and Albina (Krenek) Hruska. Bubba attended school in La Grange and received an  Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Texas. He worked many years in the oil and gas industry; mainly in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. He is survived by niece, Nancy Hruska Becker and family, of Paint Rock; and nephew, John Menke Hruska and family, of San Angelo; and many friends and cousins of La Grange. He was preceded in death  by his parents; and brother, Willie John Hruska.  Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at La Grange City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 567, La Grange, Texas 78945.

Delta Schramm

Delta Schramm, 96, formerly of Round Top, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange.
Delta was born near Shelby on March 26, 1918, the daughter of Walter and Emile (Roski) Schramm. Delta was baptized on Aug. 18, 1945 and confirmed on Dec. 21, 1953 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She lived with Mrs. Hazel G. Ledbetter of Round Top and of Houston from 1963 until her death after which she lived with Mrs. Sue Ledbetter Bell in Houston.
Graveside services will be held at Shelby Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014. Family and friends can view and sign the guestbook online at www.lagrangefunerals.com. Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange was in
