Ila Sue (Ray) Barnett

Ila Sue (Ray) Barnett, 63, of New Ulm died Friday, Sept. 26, 2014. Sue was born in Farmington, N.M. on Feb. 1, 1951, the 
daughter of L.A. and Joyce Ray. She is survived by her mother, Joyce Ray, of Columbus; son, Gregory Thomas West and  wife, Robyn of Katy; three grandchildren: Graiden, Landon and Tanner West; two step-daughters: Melanie Barnett  Henriksen and husband, Kevin; Mitzi Barnett Miller and husband, Stuart, all of Little Rock, Ark.; three step -grandchildren: Jessica Henriksen, Hayden and Madison Miller; brother, Larry Ray of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, L.A. Ray; and husband, Ron Barnett. Memorial services were held at West End Baptist Church, 7577 Ernst Parkway in Industry at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014. Grace Elsie (Braun) Hinze

Grace Elsie (Braun) Hinze, 92, of Round Top, died Sept. 30, 2014, at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Hinze will lie in state at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham from 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 until 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. She will lie in state at Foehner  Funeral Home in Burton beginning at noon Saturday, Oct. 4. Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top with Pastor David Tinker officiating. Burial will be in Isaac Hill Cemetery at Round Top. Mrs. Hinze was born Nov. 6, 1921, at home near Round Top in Fayette County, to Willie  J. and Laura (Emmrich) Braun. She was baptized Feb. 12, 1922 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top by Rev. A.H. Falkenberg and was confirmed Sept. 29, 1935 in the same church by Rev. Walter Kralik.

Wilbert Alvin Mueller

Wilbert Alvin Mueller, 74 of La Grange died Sept. 30, 2014. Wilbert was born on Jan. 9, 1940 in La Grange to Alvin Mueller
and Edna Albers Mueller. He married Mary Chovanec on Sept. 24, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. He was self-employed in the agriculture industry. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus
Council #2574 and the Fayette County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife Mary; two sisters, Mildred Frenzel and husband Leslie and Nila Kneip; two brothers-inlaw, Edward Chovanec, Frank Chovanec and wife Alice and one sister-in-law, Georgie Kossa; twelve nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death 
by his parents; three brothersin- law, Charles Chovanec, Ronald Kneip and George Kossa. Visitation was held on Oct.

Walter Edward SoRelle

Walter Edward SoRelle, 90, of Round Top died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014. Walter was born in Houston on March 5, 1924, the son of Tom D. SoRelle and Lessie (Rhinewalt) SoRelle. He married Edna Cleo Osburn on Aug. 5, 1944. Walter served in the U.S. Navy during the invasion of Pearl Harbor. He was a Mechanic in Houston for twenty years before moving to Round Top and opening Walt’s Do-It Shop. He is survived by two daughters: Linda SoRelle- Herzog of Houston, Texas and Karen Sue SoRelle-Stewart of Tomball; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. Funeral services will follow beginning at 3 p.m. with burial at Hill Cemetery.

DeAlva Doris Kovar

DeAlva Doris Kovar, 84, of El Paso died Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the Hospice El Paso Center of Compassionate Care. 
The daughter of Ella Mae (Henry) Rheinboldt and George Rheinboldt, DeAlva was born in Houston Sept. 25, 1929. After
the death of her natural parents she was adopted by Fred J. and Jessie Josephine (Matzke) Petrich of Patterson. DeAlva married Edwin “Eddie” Kovar on Aug. 19, 1962, and moved to San Felipe where she worked and raised a family. Most important to her was the time she spent with her family but she also loved music and dancing. DeAlva is survived by her 
brother, Leonard Petrich ofRound Top, two children, Gordon  Kovar of Sealy and Nethia Kelly of El Paso and her  grandchildren Megan Powell of Dallas, and Sam and Kyle Kelly of El Paso. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frydek with internment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Frydek.

Emil John Veselka

Emil John Veselka, 99, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at his home in St. Marys, Kan.

Emil was born April 16, 1915 in Fayetteville, the son of Joseph and Mary Gajda Veselka.  He worked as a diesel mechanic for the city of Houston for many years from which he retired.

Among his survivors are his daughters, Mary Ann Bunel and husband Andrew of St. Marys, Kan., Joyce and the late Leroy Rybak of Hallettsville; son, Victor and wife Nancy Veselka of Winter Park, Fla.; grandchildren, Andrew Bunel, III of Nashville, Tenn., Pamela and husband Kenneth Brown, Brian and wife Jennifer Bunel, Jason and wife Shanna Bunel, and Danielle Bunel, all of St. Marys, Kan. and Chris and wife Edita Rybak of Hallettsville; and 20 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother George and wife Sue Veselka of Houston and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Albina.
