Florian J. Vrana

Florian J. Vrana, Jr., 64, of Flatonia died June 21, 2014. He was born in Hallettsville on Nov. 27, 1949 to the late Florian Vrana Sr. and Rosie Dach Vrana. Florian was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and a retired truck Driver. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert and Michael Vrana. Survivors include one brother,
Edwin Vrana of Flatonia; four sisters, Carolyn Vrana of Flatonia, Dorothy Eaheart and husband John of Engle, Shirley
Lanni of Flatonia and Kathleen Masek and husband Robert of Flatonia; five nephews, Nathan Vrana, John Eaheart, Jr., Michael Lanni, Bryan and Kevin Masek; four nieces, Dawn Houston, Helen Eaheart, Michelle Ramirez and Kimberly Samaniego; and numerous great nieces and nephews. A Rosary was recited at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014

Ronnie Earl Stork

Ronnie Earl Stork, 65, of  Ledbetter died peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at his residence in Waldeck. Ronnie was born in La Grange on June 22, 1948, the son of Earl and Alice (Krause)  Stork. He was baptized on Aug. 8, 1948 at Waldeck Lutheran Church by Pastor Leo H. Simon and confirmed on April 15, 1962 at Waldeck Lutheran Church by Pastor Marvin Koenig. Ronnie  married Charlene Ann Trlicek on September 8, 1968 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in La Grange by Pastor A.E. Flathmann, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army in the Core of Engineers division. Ronnie worked for Texas Timbers and then worked for Fayette County Construction for more than twenty-five years. The other positions he held was  Precinct Two Fayette County Commissioner for two terms, farm and ranch manager and worked part-time in maintenance for the Round Top-Carmine School District. His hobbies were working on and fixing anything from carpentry, welding, and farm and ranch work.

Eugene Malek

Eugene Malek of La Grange died peacefully on May 28 at Parkview Manor Nursing Home. Eugene was born on April
21, 1941 in Robstown to parents Ernest and Sybil (Malish) Malek. He was a resident of Kenmar Residential Services
in La Grange. He worked for many years with the Kenmar Work Center. He is survived by brothers, Lawrence Malek and wife Monnie; sisters, Mary Janecek and husband Marvin and Agnes Malek. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Ernest and Leo Malek. A memorial and burial service will be held by the family at the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor

Judith “Judy” A. (Weikel) Stueber

Judith “Judy” A. (Weikel) Stueber, 76, of La Grange, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Care Inn in La Grange. Judy was born in La Grange on March 18, 1938, the daughter of Alvin and Anita “Annie” (Cook) Weikel. She married Harold Dean Stueber on June 27, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. Judy received her beautician’s education from Vogue Beauty College. Her first beautician’s job was working for Mary Mewis Salon (called “My Ladies”) and then for Mary Blume. After working for the two salons, she owned three salons, Classic Beauty Shop, Judy & Company and Judy’s Hair Fashions. Judy enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her hobbies included the annual Rockport outing, bowling and traveling with friends and family. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Altar Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Donald Morris Berger

Donald Morris Berger, 83, died peacefully at his home in Houston on June 12, 2014. He was born on Sept. 10, 1930, at his home in the Heights to Emil and Vera Heller Berger. He attended All Saints Catholic School in the Heights until his family moved to Ammannsville in 1941. He attended school in La Grange and graduated from high school in Schulenburg. While in high school, he met the love of his life, Lillian Belota. Lillian and Don were married on Aug. 6, 1951. From January 1952 to1954, he served in the Army during the Korean War, but was stationed in Germany. He played football and threw the discus during his service. After completing his military duty, Don and Lillian continued to work on the family farm in Ammannsville. They moved to Houston in 1956 where he worked for Cameron Ironworks and Snappy Snack. He then became a pioneer in the vending and catering industry by starting his own company, Texas Automatic Foods in 1959.
