Ida Christine Beherend Fuchs

Ida Christine Beherend Fuchs, 86, of San Antonio, went peacefullly to be with the Lord on Aug. 7, 2015 after a  short illness. She was born to Arthur and Ida Behrend on Dec. 4, 1928 in McDade.  Christine is preceded indeath by her husband of 50  years, Durwood L. Fuchs. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1945, and earned her Bachelors of Science from the University of Texas in 1949. Christine also attended TexasA&M. She went on to earn a Masters in  Education from the University of Houston in 1952. From 1949 to 1960 she taught at Round Top-Carmine  High School. A firm teacher for her young age, the students still continue to speak so highly of her at the many high school reunions that she had attended. On July 31, 1960 she married Durwood L. Fuchs of Carmine. After teaching for two years in La Grange, they moved to San Antonio where Durwood taught graphic arts and printing for 30 years at Fox Tech High School.

Lillie Emily (Bohot) Foerster

Lillie Emily (Bohot) Foerster, 95 of Giddings, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015 at Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock. Lillie was born on March 1, 1920 in Paige to Ben and Lena (Goerlitz) Bohot. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Foerster; son and daughter-inlaw, Jack and Jeanene Newsom; granddaughter-in-law, Kathy Newsom; two brothers, Herbert Bohot and George Bohot; three sisters, Annie Grimm, Selma Hensel and Minnie Christiansen; brother-in- law, Arvel Foerster and sister-in-law, Pearlie Jordon. Lillie is survived by three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, as well as other close family and friends. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Giddings with Rev. Mike Habermehl officiated. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery. Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.

Jack Woodyard

The “Supporting Limb” has fallen from our family tree. I hear his voice that says, “Grieve not for Me”...been there, done that!  Jack Woodyard, 90, peacefully passed away on Aug. 3, 2015 at Monument Hill Nursing Home in La Grange surrounded by his two daughter’s, Denise and Janet, one on each side holding  his hand, his grandson Casey, granddaughter, Christy andfriend Rochelle nearby. He was prayed with and over by Pastor J.Paul Bruhn who also played his guitar and sung for Jack in his last hour on this earth. It was almost like a soothing lullaby sung for him to begin his journey to heaven. Jack was born on Oct.  20, 1924 in Houston to George Leslie and Vallye Tombaugh Woodyard. Jack was born and grew up in Houston. In 2010, he came to live with his daughter, Denise in La Grange. City boy turned country on his ranch and got his first blue jeans! He graduated from John H. Reagan in Houston in 1942. After high school he worked for L–K Pump & Valve.

Roy Lee Harrison

Roy Lee Harrison, 72, of La Grange, died Monday, July 27, 2015. Roy Lee was born on April 3, 1943. He is survived by son, Morris Harrison and wife, Patricia; two granddaughters: Morrquaiejai Harrison and Morrtreyvia Harrison;  grandson: Jay Harrison all of College Station; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on  Friday, Aug. 7, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home at 208 W. Pearl St. in La Grange at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015. Burial will follow at La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home, 208 W. Pearl St., La Grange, Texas 78945 to cover funeral expenses for the family.

Josephine “Jo” Pasak Rawlings of La Grange, formerly of Wharton, died July 24, 2015 in La Grange. Visitation will be held from 12 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. She was born Josephine C. Freed, the youngest of 11 children to Josef and Frances (Martinak) Fried on Dec. 23, 1919 in East Bernard. She married her first husband, Willie F. Pasak on Nov. 23, 1938. He preceded her in death in May of 1963. She later married Harold W. Rawlings on Oct. 2, 1985 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1987.
