Leander Milton Minar

Leander Milton Minar, 78, died Monday March 24, 2014 in Columbus. Leander was born on Oct. 22, 1935 in Fayetteville, to Arnold Minar and Anita Blinka Minar. He married Ann Supak on Oct. 29, 1966 in Plum. He was a retired carpenter who
loved gardening and mowed lawns in Ellinger after retirement. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger and SPJST. He is survived by his wife, Ann Minar; daughter, Carol Ann Hopkins and husband Michael of Ellinger; one sister, Charlyn Krause and husband Melvin of Brenham; one brother, Raymond Minar of Ellinger; two grandchildren, Steven Schmidt, Jr. of Willow Springs and Emily Ann Schmidt of Brenham; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Roy W. McDonald

Roy W. McDonald, 76, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in La- Grange. He retired as a Crime Scene Investigator from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. He was a member of Aldine Masonic Lodge, Woodland Masonic Lodge, both of Houston, and La Fayette Masonic Lodge of   La Grange. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn McDonald; daughters: Lynn McClain, Cheryl Ann Meek and husband Jerry W., and Rene’ W. Dennis; six grandchildren: DJ Turner and wife Jennifer, Kristina Turner, Kelly Ann Laake and husband Michael, James W. Meek, Brandon Joseph Dennis, and Chelsea Rene’ Dennis; six great-grandchildren: Bethoni, Lucas, and Cassie Turner, W. Michael Yeakley, Andrew M. Laake, and Kenneth J. Yeakley; two sisters: Sue Crouch and husband

Donald Ray Newman, 76, of La Grange, died Thursday, March 20, 2014. Donald was born in Mendoza on Feb. 13, 1938, the son of Henry Clay Newman and Opal (Gibbons) Newman. He married Joyce Ebner on Nov. 27, 1958 at St. John Lutheran Church in Houston. Donald was employed in the Maintenance Department of Houston Lighting & Power from

Escolastica (Sanchez) Moreno

Escolastica (Sanchez) Moreno, 88, of Ledbetter, died Friday, March 21, 2014. Escolastica was born in Tula Tamaulipas, Mexico on April 20, 1925, the daughter of Diego and Juliana Sanchez. She is survived by her husband, Jemeterio LL Moreno; five sons: Quirino Moreno of West Point; Juan, Jesus, Mario and Felix Moreno; three daughters: Meteria and Rufina Moreno and Alma Segundo; and numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014 in Tula Tamaulipas, Mexico and burial will follow at EJ Miguel Hidalgo Cemetery. John Perkins

John Perkins, 84, of Springtown, died March 9, 2014. He was born Feb. 22, 1933 in Port Arthur the son of Henry Irby and Edna Melder Irby. He was adopted into the Perkins family in 1951. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Betty Joyce Perkins, and his father and mother.

A memorial service was held Friday, March 14, 1 p.m. at Koenig and Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. Remains were interred in Prairie Lea Cemetery, Brenham.

He is survived by his wife, Danielle Harrison Perkins, of Springtown; his daughter, Kimberly Perkins Maldonado of Springtown; two sons, Orville Perkins and Richard Perkins, of Arlington; two foster sons, Charles Sigbornson and Carl Forrest of Arlington; four grandchildren: Josh E. Gates (Brenda) of Baytown, Briana, Alana and Trey Maldonado of Springtown; and one great-granddaughter, Paige Elizabeth Gates, of Baytown.

Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home of La Grange was in charge of arrangements.

Eugelyn Ann Bing

Eugelyn Ann Bing passed away comfortably at her home on March 16, 2014. A graveside service was held on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Cemetery. She was born on Dec. 25, 1928. She was the daughter of Eugene and Amanda Roensch Mach. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and sister, Sybil Bostian. 
She is survived by her brother Eugene Mach and wife Gladys and nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of La Grange  Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange was in charge of arrangements.

Richard was a native of New Jersey but, adopted Texas as his home state more than 16 years ago. Debra Ann Krenek

Debra Ann Krenek, 54, of Fayetteville, died on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Visitation was held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Knesek Chapel in  Fayetteville. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Services were held at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville, at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014.
