Betty Ruth (Pereira) Gabriel

Betty Ruth (Pereira) Gabriel,  79, of Round Top died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 at St. David’s Medical Center in Austin. Betty was born in Houston on Aug. 7, 1935, the daughter of Otto and Pauline Mary (Kaskey) Pereira. She married Martin
Joseph Gabriel, Sr. on Jan. 28, 1952 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Houston. Betty and Martin owned and operated a dairy farm for 35 years, worked for Invader Boat Corp. as a layout designer, owned and operated Pop-A-Top in Warrenton, and was a cook at Royer’s Café in Round Top. Betty was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She 
was a loving wife, very hard working, and a caring person. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Martin Gabriel,
Sr.; daughter, Sandy Polasek and husband, Glenn, of La Grange; four sons: Martin Gabriel, Jr. and wife, Terry, of
La Grange; Michael Gabriel and wife, Cathy and Danny Gabriel all of Houston; Larry Gabriel of Warrenton; two sisters: Norma Gabriel of Cypress and Ann Gabriel of Tomball; two brothers: Marvin Pereira and wife, Elma, of La Marque and Eugene Pereira, Jr. and wife, Lois, of Houston; eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sharon Mertz; grandson, Larry Lynn Gabriel, Jr.; and brother, Kenneth Pereira. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Funeral Services were held
at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 126 Plum Church Rd. in Plum, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014. Burial followed at Florida Chapel Cemetery in Warrenton.
