Nelson Otto Muske, 83, of Katy, formerly of La Grange died on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 at Grace Care Center in Katy. Nelson was born in Shelby on Oct. 5, 1930, the son of Bruno and Elda (Ziese) Muske. He married Leda Mae Keilers on
Nov. 30, 1952 at St. John Lutheran Church in Warrenton. He was baptized on March 14, 1932 by Rev. Carl Baer in
Waldeck and confirmed on Sept. 10, 1944 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelby by Rev. Julius Borshard. Nelson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class in 1954. Nelson was an Assistant Foreman for the Texas Highway Department and retired after 35 years of service. He loved the  outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a cowboy most of his lifetime. He is survived by his wife,
Leda Mae; two daughters: Connie Leyendecker and husband, David, of Katy; Diana Michalsky and husband, Tony, of Bryan; two brothers: Audley Muske and wife, Marian, of Shelby; Emmett Muske of Burton; sister, Frances Eilers and husband, Glenver, of Brenham; grandchildren: Kimberly  Johnson and husband, Ross; Kristen Carden and husband, Luke; Wade Michalsky and wife, Emily; Ashley Michalsky and friend, Jonathan Arredondo; great-grandchildren: Shelby and Taylor Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Visitation was held on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Funeral   services were held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013. Burial followed at Richter Cemetery in Round Top. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 8, Ellinger, Texas 78938 or a charity of one’s choice.
